And what is the "heart of the earth" - the tomb or someplace else?Matthew 12:40
New International Version
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Scripture referencing the post would be helpful (e.g. Book; verse)
The criminal's soul joined Jesus' soul in paradise (heaven), while their bodies went into the earth.Scripture referencing the post would be helpful (e.g. Book; verse)
Matthew 12:40
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Luke 23:43
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Ephesians 4:8-10
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Sometime after the resurrection, the Messiah told Mary Magdalene not to touch Him because He had not yet ascended to His Father (who I assume was in heaven). Any idea where the criminal's soul was between his death and his joining with the Messiah in heaven?The criminal's soul joined Jesus' soul in paradise (heaven), while their bodies went into the earth.
Honestly, I don't know what Jesus meant by his statement. We do know that Jesus and the criminal, now forgiven, went to heaven, but the timing was between their deaths and sunrise, because the measurement of days was from sundown to sunrise, not the way we measure days. Therefore, they had time to go there, since Jesus rose sometime before sunrise.Sometime after the resurrection, the Messiah told Mary Magdalene not to touch Him because He had not yet ascended to His Father (who I assume was in heaven).
