40) Genesis 38

- Judah takes a canaanite and have children with her!

- Her first child displeases God so he puts him to death!

- The second one has to take his brother’s wife and raises up offspring for his brother!

- But it is not going to be his so he wastes his semen on the ground so as not to give offspring to his brother!

- So God puts him to death!

- Judah is afraid that his third son will do the same and die!

- So his third son grows but Judah doesn’t give the wife of his first son to him!

- So she removes her widow’s clothing and veils herself and gets at the entrance of the city!

- When Judah sees her, he takes her as a prostitute and asks for relations with her!

- She asks him for his seal ring and his cord and his rod!

- Then she becomes pregnant!

- Three months later, Judah is told that her daughter-in-law is pregnant!

- So he tells to burn her!

- Then she shows Judah’s seal ring and cord and rod!

- He says that she is more righteous than him because he didn’t give her to her third son!

- She gives birth to twins!

- Once again we have a bad story of the sons of Jacob!

- Once again we understand their bad behavior!

41) Genesis 39

- Now Joseph was taken down to Egypt, and an Egyptian named Potiphar, a court official of Pharaoh and chief of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there. But God was with Joseph. As a result, he became successful and was put over the house of his master, the Egyptian. And his master saw that God was with him and that God was making everything that he did successful!

- Potiphar is not stupid!

- He can see what happens when Joseph is in charge!

- It is refreshing to hear about faithful servants of God even if they are a minority!

- It would be easy to lose hope in humanity when we read the Bible and when we see how the world is going on!

- Joseph kept finding favor in his eyes, and he became his personal attendant. So he appointed him over his house, and he put him in charge of all that was his!

- A SUCCESS STORY!

- He eventually left everything that was his in Joseph’s care, and he gave no thought to anything except the food he was eating. Moreover, Joseph grew to be well-built and handsome!

- Which meant getting into trouble!

- Potiphar’s wife wanted to have sex with him!

- But he refused!

- Potiphar believed his wife and Joseph went to prison!

- But God kept looking after Joseph!

- So the chief officer of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners in the prison, and everything that they were doing there, he was the one having it done!

- Seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine!

- “So now let Pharaoh look for a man who is discreet and wise and place him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh take action and appoint overseers in the land, and he should collect one fifth of the produce of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. And let them collect all the food during these coming good years, and let them stockpile grain under Pharaoh’s authority as food to be stored in the cities and safeguarded there. The food should serve as a supply for the land for the seven years of famine that will occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perish in the famine.”

- And Pharaoh put Joseph in charge!

- Pharaoh further said to Joseph: “I am Pharaoh, but without your authorization, no man may do a single thing in all the land of Egypt.”After that Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-paneah and gave him Asenath the daughter of Potiphera the priest of On as a wife. And Joseph began to oversee the land of Egypt. Joseph was 30 years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt.

- Thanks to God, Joseph became the second most influential man in Egypt!

Remember:

Biblical Hebrew has a very small number of words, about 8,000, and around 1,700 of those words are hapax legomena (being said once) in the Hebrew Bible. Modern Hebrew has about 100,000 words. For comparison modern English has over 450,000 words, and Spanish has just over 175,000 words. Standard English dictionaries typically have about 200,000 words, whereas Spanish dictionaries have about 80,000 words.

This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context.

Although yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans:

  • Point of time (a specific day)
  • time period of a whole or half a day:
    • Period of light (as contrasted with the period of darkness),
    • Sunrise to sunset
    • Sunset to next sunset
  • General term for time ( as in 'days of our lives')
  • A year "lived a lot of days"
  • Time period of unspecified length. "days and days"

I was reading the very wonderful stories of the Bible posted by - " JLC " such great stories, especially the descriptive way that JLC details the events laid out in God’s word.

If we can go back to the post “ # 17 “ - about Sarai having no children, and Sarai telling Abram to have relations with her servant Agar to bear the promised, prophesied seed.

But how is this in any way reminiscent or reminding and simulating the situation of Elkanah, Samuel’s father and his two wives ! Can you please explain a little about why you believe that Abram and Sarai were making things “ more complicated! -

Or how they and also even Samuels father Elkanah and his wife Hannah were behaving really strange, strange , bizarre, weird or had made “ wrong “ decisions, also, how is their action especially opposing, resisting, combating or struggling and conflicting with God!

The Catholic and Protestant translations do depict this exact narrative, to cast polygamy marriage in a negative malevolence and as an evil and destructive marriage situation, however, these translations are changing and altering the manuscripts and changing what the Manuscripts are saying in their originality.

FOR EXAMPLE , - - if we go to Lev 18:18 The Catholic Douay Rheims translation

:18 Thou shalt not take thy wife's sister for a harlot, to rival her: neither shalt
thou discover her nakedness, while she is yet living.

The Jerome Latin Vulgate

:18 You shall not take your wife’s sister as a rival mistress; nor shall you uncover her nakedness, while your wife is still living.

The Protestant translations

:18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness,

beside the other in her life time.

We can see that all three of these mainstream translations somewhat differ in that one translation labels “ added polygamy wives “ - as harlots, prostitutes or hookers or perverted sexually immoral hussies,, who are rivals, opponent, challengers, enemies, and competitors with one another, - another translation, as mistresses which means ´” a sexual-intercourse with a man who is not her husband ”´

But let’s look at the original manuscripts.
”” Lev 18:18 - The original manuscripts “”

ואשׁה And a woman - אל־אחתה with her sister - לא do not - תקח take -
לצרר tsârar them gathered / them bundled - לגלות to uncover - ערותה her nakedness -

עליה upon her - בחייה׃ in her life.

:18 meaning = And a woman with her sister do not take

them
gathered / them bundled, to uncover her nakedness upon her in her life.

The Hebrew word - לצרר means = them gathered / them bundled -

this Hebrew word only appears “ ONE SINGLE TIME “ in the manuscripts as a third person pronoun, - representing ancient Hebrew

You can go to every single one of these total “ 16 “ online translation websites, you will find that the Hebrew word - לצרר means = to gather / to bundle -

AND NOT TO VEX OR TORMENT

The passage was explaining that relatives and family members, kin, “ blood / DNA related people “ were simply not supposed to be having children together and reproducing sexually with family members

As if - the wholesale acts of fathers having sex with their daughter - or grand - parents having sex with their grandchildren , this would not VEX and torment and cause distress ? BUT the passage is not detailing the context of personal FEELINGS and WAYS OF THINKING and ATTITUDES about sexual relationships, it is specifically dedicated to the describing the negative effects of crossbreeding, inbreeding, hereditary deformities - PROFANE DEFILED GENETIC incest - inborn births that cause disease and birth defects, stillbirths, infant mortality and a shorter life expectancy. children with severe diseases and disorders - that the land itself vomits out her defiled and polluted inhabitants.

The passage concluded the description of the situation of Genetic DNA Pollution and Confusion

Lev 18:21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

:23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

the souls that commit this shall be cut off from among their people

Lev 18: 6 - 16 - Commands The Hebrews

To not have sexual intercourse with their relatives,
Daughters
with fathers
Sons
with mothers
Brothers with sisters - - half brother and half sister
Uncles
with nieces
Aunts
with nephews
Your brothers or your sisters
- husband or wife
Grandparents
with grandchildren
A wife
with her sister _ together in marriage.

:17 the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, ; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

:19 a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.
:20 with thy neighbor’s wife, - to defile thyself with her.

EVEN IN A BIBLICAL MARRIAGE SYSTEM - WHERE PLURAL / POLYGAMY MARRIAGE WAS HOLY AND righteous in the eyes of God, a situation where relatives / blood related sisters who were married to the same man, this was also problematic, dangerous and damaging, leading to near future birth defects and weakening the society.

”” Lev 18:18 - The original manuscripts “”

ואשׁה And a woman - אל־אחתה with her sister - לא do not - תקח take -

לצרר tsârar them gathered / them bundled - לגלות to uncover - ערותה her

nakedness -
עליה upon her - בחייה׃ in her life.

The passage could have easily clearly, clearly, plainly, unmistakably and perfectly commanded that a man is forbidden from having multiple wives in polygamy / plural marriage, but the subject was about defilement of the DNA, genetic codes, diseases, deformities and weakening of society by related sisters being married and mass producing / creating offspring from one man . Having multiple numerous plural wives was never the abomination, defilement, evil and never the problem in the passage and never in the entire Bible is this mentioned as a problem for the God of the Bible.

There was something about related sisters sharing the seed or sperm of one single man that caused blood problems when producing offspring / life. The passage was not about condemning imaginations of VEXATION and ABUSE and TORMENT and HORROR and ANGUISH and distress about two sisters forced to marry the same man in polygamy marriage. In fact, for the last - 2500 years - the Hebrews had been marrying their relatives already , multiple sisters married to one man, daughters reproducing with their fathers, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, Cain and Seth married many of their very own sisters.

The children of Ham, Shem and Japheth married many of their very own sisters.

Incest was God’s original plan of marriage but eventually the genetic code became corrupted and then that plan was modified to a distant relative marriage system. But for Polygamy / Plural wives marriage, this was never modified or changed by God, Only that a man is forbidden from marrying multiple women who are closely related, not from marrying multiple women - the commandment that stipulates that a man is forbidden to marry multiple wives is what simply is missing from the entire Bible - even stipulating that if a man is GOING TO HAVE multiple wives then he cannot marry closely related women, not stipulating that he is forbidden from polygamy.

But we are supposed to pretend and wish and imagine and play the narrative that God frowns and winks and scowls and - flashes hints and blurry cue cards and vague suggestions and fuzzy negative _ tip – offs _ about it - this is what t
he Translators impose and inject into the translations as they completely modify and change the passages from what the original says.

The original Hebrew word was - לצרר - tsârar - not generally used in a negative situation as ””
Lev 18:18 - The original manuscripts “”

ואשׁה And a woman - אל־אחתה with her sister - לא do not - תקח take -
לצרר tsârar them ( sisters ) gathered / them bundled … ( in marriage )

Meaning ; to yoke or hitch; by analogy to fasten join - bind, fast, gird, harness, hold, keep, make ready, order, prepare, set in array, tie. - this word also can be used in a VERY, VERY negative situation

Gen 49:26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph,

We notice here in the Translation that even here in - 1Sa 1: 6 - 7 the passage is again mistranslated Elkanah ...... had two wives - named Hannah and Peninnah: Peninnah had multiple children, - but Hannah had no children. the LORD had shut up her womb.

:6....... And HER adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
:7....... so SHE { HER adversary } provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
The translators again, alter, modify and change and manipulate and add a narrative to this passage.

This Hebrew word “ צרתה = anguishes, - afflictions - distress is used “ 73 total times “ - in the entire Manuscripts, and one single time - and one time only - the translators change this word into “ ADVERSARY “ the 72 other times they translate this word always as “ anguishes, troubled, afflictions, and distress. “

They needed his polygamous wife Hannah to have a horrible evil enemy and tormenter, another second wife who was her “ Her ADVERSARY,, Her Opponent,, Her Challenger,, Her Antagonist,, Her Rival and Her Persecutor “

:6
וכעסתה Her anger - “ צרתה = anguishes, - afflictions - distress -
גם־כעס also grief / sorrow - בעבור because - הרעמה she troubled -
כי־סגר since that shut - יהוה Jehovah / Yahwhea -
בעד for - רחמה׃ her whomb

6....... And HER adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb

:7 וכן And so - יעשׂה she did - שׁנה year - בשׁנה by year - מדי - too much -
עלתה rise up - בבית in the house - יהוה of Jehovah / Yahwhea
-
כן so - תכעסנה grievious sorrow - ותבכה weeping -
ולא and not - תאכל׃ did eat

:7....... so SHE { HER adversary } provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
Again, the Translators invent and insert an imaginary boogie - woman in the background who is the other wife of the husband by altering and completely changing the passage. This is supposed to be based on the pretext and alleged reason of the reader suspecting that Hannah was being antagonized, tormented and persecuted because another woman / wife and her children { HER adversary } had received more possessions and property than Hannah had received. Hannah is filled with jealousy, hatred, anger, rage and bitterness / resentment : that she is enraged and infuriated to the point of starving herself to death because her husband is an evil polygamous who only cares about his other wife

Notice

1Sa 1:4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

:5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.
But we find that her husband loved her and has a loving relationship and has sexual intercourse with her after the prophecy and she conceives shortly thereafter

1Sa 1:26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. :27 For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of.

We find that in order for Hannah to become God’s special lightening rod or Gods extension cord she did not have to demand that polygamy was evil and wicked and demand that her polygamous husband leave his other wife, Hannah goes home continuing to live a happy live in the Lord - a life of a polygamous Godly wife who bears a son who is the Prophet Of God Samuel, born out of polygamous Godly marriage.

Num 30:6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ her soul;

Exo 12:34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

Other related forms of the “”” same exactly word “ that are not third personal pronouns are…..

Hos 4:19 The wind hath “ tsârar צָרַר and gathered / bundled bound “ her up in her wings,

Pro 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven……….. who hath “ tsârar צָרַר and gathered / bundled bound “ the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

1Sa 25:29 Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be “ tsârar צָרַר and gathered / bundled bound “ in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God;

Jos 9:4 They did work …………… and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and “ tsârar צָרַר and gathered / bundled bound “ up;

This Hebrew word also has many meaning in how the word is applied to the situation, it can be both very good or very bad…….. - it means to gather or bind or crowd together, - this word also can be used in a VERY, VERY negative situation.

Another related word
2Ki 5:23 And Naaman ........ urged him, and “ צוּר tsûr gathered / bundled bound two talents of silver in two bags.

Another related word is אָסַר - bonding / gathering / tying together - 'âsar - aw-sar'
Meaning ; to yoke or hitch; by analogy to fasten join - bind, fast, gird, harness, hold, keep, make ready, order, prepare, set in array, tie. - this word also can be used in a VERY, VERY negative situation

Num 30:11 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ wherewith she

אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ her soul shall stand.

Num 30:8 ……….. he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her.

Num 30:7 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ her soul shall stand.

Num 30:6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound “ אָסַר - bond / gather / tie - aw-sar' “ her soul;
