Jesus was asked by a fellow Jew what the greatest commandment is. The conversation between them is recalled in 12:28-34. Loving God - not just any deity, but the one and only God of these two Jews - is the greatest. The second is loving our neighbor.

Who is their God? Both of the men understood who their God is -> the Father, the living God, the God of Abraham.

Who is their neighbor? Jesus certainly understood who their neighbor is. (See the parable of the good Samaritan.) Did his fellow Jew? Do we?
