What is Good Friday? What does Good Friday mean for Christians? What day is Good Friday in 2022? And what is the Monday after Holy Week in the Bible? Join me to learn about this important holiday through the article below.

Good Friday is a holy day for Christians. Especially on this day, prayer is often valued with the reading of Gospel passages about the events that led to the crucifixion of Jesus. Christianity views the crucifixion as a voluntary and entrusted act of Jesus, and therefore, with his resurrection on the third day after his death, victory over death.
In the Roman Catholic Church, this day is designated to fast and abstain from meat, i.e. only one full meal or two small meals. In America, this is not a day of abstinence from work, however, people only work until the evening worship begins. In Latin America, all Catholics abstain from work on this day (as well as Good Friday). In the afternoon, the rite was started around three o'clock in the afternoon, the rite was started around three o'clock, which corresponds to the time of Jesus' death written in the Gospels. In some countries, this day is an official holiday - consisting of a series of Bible readings and meditation. In the traditional Latin liturgy, a priest reads a passage from the Gospel about the Passion of Jesus with three deacons. Unlike worship on other days, on Good Friday purple cloths cover the images, and a Cross is placed near the altar to give the faithful an opportunity to venerate. Traditional worship consists of a series of rituals that are solemn in form and tend to be persistently traditional, subject to little modification, even over long periods of time.
In some Western countries, such as Germany and Switzerland, Good Friday is also an official holiday (besides Easter Sunday and the following Monday which is also an official paid holiday), On this Good Friday, amusement parks, theaters, shops are closed and dancing, sports competitions are prohibited to commemorate the Passion of Jesus. In Austria and Luxembourg, this Friday is only an official holiday for Protestants. According to the rules of the Roman Catholic Church, Good Friday requires believers from 14 to 60 years old to fast and abstain from meat. Good Friday 2022 falls on Friday, April 15.
In the Bible, Good Friday fulfills the prophecy that Christ gave to His disciples many times over. Just a week ago Jesus was celebrated in the streets; yet, Jesus knew what was to come. This is why the night before, Jesus brought his disciples to the Last Supper in Mark 14. The Jewish tradition of Passover on the first night is to prepare the sacrificial lamb, and Jesus prepares to be sacrificed to all mankind the next day. After the meal, Jesus entered the Garden of Gethsemane to pray and was subsequently arrested. On the next day of Good Friday, Jesus was beaten, mocked, and hung on the cross. It was on Calvary, a place called the Skull, that Jesus breathed his last. With the final part of human life in Him, Jesus cried, “it is over” and with that cry, the weight of all mankind's sins was taken into account. (John 19). Good Friday is a day of remembrance not only of the brutal death Christ endured for us but ultimately the love that was fulfilled on that fateful day.

Yes, we should remember his birth, death and resurrection, but remember there are no God appointed holidays.

New International Version
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

No official days or practices.
But with regard to what concerning official days or practices?
There are none in the Church.
.
How do you know that Paul was indicating that there was no eating, drinking, religious festivals, new moon celebrations and Sabbath days in the Church? How do you know that he wasn't simply telling the Colossians they shouldn't let anyone but the body of Christ, i.e., the Church (Col 2:17) criticize them for how they were observing those things?

Personal choice. No observance required. For Jews, not Gentiles who never had observed them.
