ACTS 4

19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

YOU JUST HAVE TO SPEAK

I love the book of Acts! I think it's because of the boldness of the Christians throughout this wonderful book.

In context, Peter and John who were in trouble, and it seemed that trouble followed the disciples around. Likewise, when we preach the Gospel in the right way, we will face opposition. One of the ways we know that the Gospel is being preached in the Biblical way, is that there is much opposition to it.

We haven't seen Jesus in the flesh, but we have heard his words.
I wonder what you do, if the authorities in your town or your government created a law that said you could no longer testify of Jesus? What would you do?

In many countries, you can't speak the Name of Jesus. In certain countries mentioning the Name of Jesus is punishable by death. What would your answer be? Would a law like that make any difference in your life?

What I mean is this:

If you never share the Gospel, or haven't opened your mouth in years to testify of Jesus, would you break that Law to speak the Gospel of Christ?

You may say... "We should obey the government." Yes, we should.. but we must obey God first! His commands take priority over government laws. Look at Daniel and his three friends. They disobeyed government laws to face the two worst situations ever... testing by fire and lions! They came out without a scratch, in that context. God honours those who honour HIM.

The disciples couldn't help speaking of Jesus... they had to do it!

Can you and I say the same thing?

God bless you,

Keith

ACTS 5

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

GO STAND AND SPEAK

It wasn't just Peter and John; it was all 12 of the Apostles. The religious leaders put all of them in jail!

Now throughout Scripture, the angel of the Lord appears, and this is commonly Jesus appearing before His earthly ministry. Maybe this was Gabriel who appeared to Mary?

I love what the angel says! He tells them to go stand in the Temple and speak the words of this life.

You know so many churches organise events for people to come to and that is great, but we have to go where people are. Many will not enter a church building, except at Christmas, or a funeral, or for a wedding.

All these events are good, but we are told to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. To do this, we must leave our comfort zones, and go where people are.

As a young Christian, I was privileged to be a member of the Young Life Campaign and United Beach Missions, who shared their faith on the street and on the beach.

When you share in the open air around your hometown, there is no hiding place. People who know you will see you. People who live near you, and who work with you, will recognise you. I think it is one of the motivating factors to drive you closer to God, because you can't hide your Christianity. Your life has to match your talk.

It is time for the Church as a whole, and the individual believer to stand and speak the words of Life, wherever that may be.
Are you going to speak the words of life to a needy world?

God bless you,

Keith
