I think that GOD made Earth and then the sun, moon and planets with the intention that all the planets would be in a perfect orbit to ensure each had the same warm moist atmosphere as Earth so that once Earth became filled any human could be offered the chance to go live on different planets - or as Jesus put it 'other mansions.'.
