I was wondering what everyone here does at halloween, do you participate. Im wondering because I want to dress up Abraham in this really cute cow costume and go visiting people we know , but I know there are alot of different views with christians as to wether or not we should take part.
What do you guys think ?

There is nothing biblical to keep you from having your kids dress up like a cow and ask for candy. It no more harmful than them knowing about Santa on Christmas. Its a harmless tradition but it needs the right perspective of course.
The fact is that ghosts don't come out on October 31st. But it seems its has been turned into a modern-day secular party free-for-all for adults which is just silly to me. If you have kids fine, have fun but after the age of 12 or so if you are an adult still dressing up for Halloween then something may be wrong with you. :D

My daughter is going to be a spider. I made her costume, its so cute!!! She is going to have Silly String for her shooting web, he he he.
I don't think theres anything wrong with it, its just for fun. Like CTZ said the innocent stuff, God knows our hearts. If other people make it something else thats them not us, were not lumped together or practice what others do.
I don't believe in the Santa thing though, since that makes kids focus on something imaginary instead of Jesus and makes them focus on what THEY get, materialistic stuff. Also if they really believe in Santa and find out its imaginary, how are they going to feel when you tell them about Jesus? I'm totally against Santa.
I believe like Core always says 'its a balance'. :)

I may be able to listen to it when I get home from work (Chelsea just got home, watching a movie). I looked on Wiki, I suppose many who aren't Christians celebrate Christmas. So I would say it depends on what you are celebrating.
We celebrate it as nothing more then playing dress up, getting treats and having fun with friends.
We're not celebrating it for its history or religion, or doing any of the historical activities. Then there would be something majorly wrong with it and I would not pertisipate or let my daughter.
I'd say its fine.

If its something you feel is wrong, then I wouldn't do it. You should stick up for whats right. Remember my friend who had the Celtic wedding, my hubby was in it?.... Well me and my daughter didn't go because I felt that would of been participating in something wrong. Chelsea was 'kinda' sick so I used that as my excuse (of course my hubby understood the real reason). Come to find out at the wedding the did some crazy stuff, crazy to me blah to the norm, I feel I made the right decision by all means.
You have to stick up for whats right and what you believe, even if we have to stand up to friends and family. Its hard.

A - sorry i wouldnt normally post here but this story really reminded me of a friends wedding. She basically was always the 'loose cannon' of the group, and ended up getting into 'wicker' (- not sure if this exists in the US) - it sounds simular to the celtic thing you were invited to; the end result was that her wedding involved alot of nudity - and the 'bridemaids' (ie me and another girl) were surposed to also participate in - needless to say she ended up getting married without 'bridemaids' - and i attended the marriage with my dignity intact!

I'm sorry to hear that. And they can take offense to that. We just don't want to be involved. :(
O yeah my hubby said 'worst wedding pictures ever'.
