I keep seeing "high places" mentioned in the OT (something against God). What was it?

I tend to group "high places" with "groves"

... same feeling for me ... darkside ...

Bamah = high place … from an unused root (meaning to be high)

1) high place, ridge, height, bamah (technical name for cultic platform)

a) high place, mountain

b) high places, battlefields

c) high places (as places of worship)

d) funeral mound?
Ashera(h) = "groves (for idol worship)"

1) a Babylonian (Astarte)-Canaanite goddess (of fortune and happiness), the supposed consort of Baal, her images

a) the goddess, goddesses

b) her images

c) sacred trees or poles set up near an altarWilly:tiphat:
