Hmm so what my question will be about is understanding the time period when things occurred. In Genesis 10 most were scattered and begun to have other languages. But in Genesis 11, The Tower of Babel, it talks as if the people becoming scattered and different languages didn't happen until then. So is Genesis 10 geneology basically and 11 a thing that happened somewhere in the middle of this spread of people in 10?

Genesis 10 gives the time frame by generations up to the Tower.
11 gives the details of why the division of languages happened and then the generations resume and include the land being divided (creation of continents) to Abram, the next big event time.
