View Full Version : Bucketful at a Time

Our lives have been the recipients of the liberating miracle of Jesus Christ.
The slavery we have been in bondage to has been analogous to the Jews in Egypt.
We were freed from sin by Jesus as were the Jews from Egypt by Moses.
The Jews were in physical slavery to a physical kingdom.
We have been in the position of being in bondage to the oppression of sin and darkness.
Most of the things we have been chained with have been based on attitude and our choices.
The big difference is that the parting of the Red Sea was instantaneous; a magnificent visual and
physical miracle: but while our miracle is every bit as real and effective in our lives it is most often
happening a bucketful at a time.

We have the Holy Spirit shaping us day by day as much as we are willing to be obedient to Him.
No less a miracle than the Exodus from Egypt.

Interesting statement.

Have to ask, who is Mark R Massey? I like to know the thinking behind the person making such quotes.

I probably should not have left my name on that, it was an email I sent to my brother. My brother and I have been looking for jobs and going through some tough times . We are both learning to redirect our thinking
towards gratitude for what Christ has done for us and not circumstances.

As far as what my theological presuppositions are -
I am of the reformed tradition and believe that all of life is spiritual;
there are no secular compartments where God is not watching and working. I have found that although it is wonderful when people have
instantaneous life changing miracles which make up the larger portion of the testimonies you hear: most of our spiritual growth happens in increments. God works His miracles of transformation through the gradual and continual struggle to become more obedient. No less a miracle is the
gradual, incremental transformation of our thinking. Learning to be content in whatever state we are in and praise Him instead of getting depressed and feeling sorry for yourself.
It is the very American tendency to have wants and needs confused.
In this materialistic culture of ours it is a miracle of grace when ones
attitude and outlook is growing more Christlike when all the forces around
us are hostile to that direction.

Thanks!

I agree that sanctification, once born again, is a process requiring learning and growth. It just does not 'happen' as the norm as some believe.

God is absolutely all knowing, seeing and active. Unlike some I hold silence to be an active answer and action when God deems it the best answer.

In today's world the old adage the biggest lies are built around a grain of truth is more true than ever. That is why I am cautious on wanting a few details before jumping on board.
