Is there a place thats trust worthy on the internet I can go to that has the OT family tree to help me see who is whose daughter or son the bible talks about? Because Chronicles and another book goes into this quite a bit and its easier for me if I can see it and not just read it. Thanks! :tiphat:

Trustworthy I don't know but I am sure you can have your Bible open to follow along with this Biblibal Family Tree to determine its trustworthiness. Family Tree (http://www.d.umn.edu/~jbelote/bible2.html)
Just did a google search and this was the first one that you didn't have to pay for.

Hey thanks! I have been writing it all down also as I go through and study this time. Its has been so helpful to make notes and find scripture I have read in the past instead of not remembering and being totally lost. I have also been writing things down so I can explore maps later.

Later I am going to compare what I have to what you found has to see if I have missed anything ect.

Or maybe they missed something. Make sure to post anything that you found to be discrepant or even confusing it may help all of us and of course it will possibly bring lively discussion.

Blah I'm cross eyed LOL. I haven't gotten through the whole tree because as far as I know I haven't read that far.

One thing I have noticed a lot is the names here and there being spelled different. That could be a difference in Bible versions which I use the NIV.

I have noticed some other things as well. Remind I feel slightly cross eyed. It is so big and is hard to follow when the names are so foreign.

Some of the names I also wonder where they got them, unless they are mentioned later in the Bible or I got slightly lazy taking notes with genealogy lol.

I also didn't write everything down as I was looking at the tree because it came to seem extensive. So here it goes... also I apologize if I misspell.

How do hey know Milcah Haran's daughter is the same Milcah thats Nahors wife?

Who is Heth under Canaan?

I have Seth's first son's name spelled as Enosh 4:26.

Genesis 5:9 Kenan not Cainan.

5:12 Mahalaleel is spelled as Mahalalel.

Genesis 10

Salah, "I have" Shelah
Bether, " " Gether
Mash, " " Meshech
Dodanim, " " Rodanim
Phut," " Put
Sabtechah, " " Sabteca

Under Canaan I have 10:15-20

22:24 is not listed on the tree.

Also Milcah Nahor's wife gave birth to: Uz, Buz, Kemuel, Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Buthuel. Family tree only has 3 of them listed and one with a different spelling.

#22 I have Midian's son name as Hanoch and the tree says Henoch.

#36 Eliphaz, Esau's son also had sons named Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz ; not listed on tree.

Esau's wife Oholibamah on tree is listed as Aholibama.

Esau had a wife named Basemath and she bore him Reuel whom later had had son's named Shammah, Zerah, Nahath and Mizzah. The tree says Majalath bore Esau Reuel but has nothing after him.

I am not seeing this on the tree at all unless I am missing it (except Zibeon, Anah and Oholibamah). 36:20 These were the son's of Seir the Horite who were living.....

Lotan- Hori and Homam
Shobal- Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam
Zibeon- Aiah, Anah
Anah- Dishon, Oholibamah (Esau's wife?)
Dishon- Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Keran
Ezer- Bilhan, Zaavan, Akan
Dishan- Uz, Aran

Exodus

Exodus 6 is not listed on tree for the most part

Exodus 31 Bezalel and Oholiab are not listed on the tree and I would say they play an important role 36 and 37.

Numbers

Numbers 1 is not listed on the tree.

I also couldn't find Joshua son of Nun listed on the tree and I think he should be since he was Moses' assistant.

Numbers 16 I don't see Korah, Dathan and Abiram listed on the tree unless yet again I am missing it.

I'm tired lol. I also could not be putting my names together right. There are also multiple's of the same name, different names, in the Bible but they are different people which is also something to consider when looking to see if something is Biblically right or not of who.

Wow I think you might need a biblical language scholar and that's not me but if you keep digging into this you very well may be by the time you are done:p

I should of posted this when you were still in Exodus but couldn't find the file. It's just the introduction to a book that impressed me years ago and gave what I considered good advice concerning the depth of God's written word. Again, it is written by a man and should be challenged as such.

The second part is just the Hebrew names in Numbers Chapter 1 with there meanings. I found it interesting. Names are KJV, meanings would be the same as NIV

Thomas Newberry

Introduction

God, who knows our frame and remembers that we are dust, has, in His fatherly condescension, from the earliest times, instructed the children of faith by means of pictures, or object lessons. It is so difficult for man, who is a complex being, composed of body, soul, and spirit, to form purely abstract or spiritual ideas; they need, more or less, to be clothed in a material form.

Beginning with the first victim offered in Paradise, in the skin of which our first parents were clothed by the hand of God, onward by Abel’s offering, and the long succession of sacrifices through the following ages, the Father was making known by type and symbol the deep things of God, and the precious things of Christ, which could only be spiritually apprehended by the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Sight is threefold --- physical, mental, and spiritual.

The eye gazes on the type, reason may form its conclusions, but the Holy Spirit alone can communicate the mind of God concerning the truths contained in it. In these types we have the embodiment of the thoughts of God concerning the person, work, and offices of the Lord Jesus Christ.

But as the spirit of man alone knows the inward thoughts of man, so these deep and wondrous thoughts of God can only be communicated to us by the Spirit of God Himself ( 1 Cor. 2:11).

Moreover, as the Word of God endureth forever, and the heavens and earth may pass sooner than one jot or tittle of the law may fail, we have in these types, in all their minuteness of detail, a record for eternity, imprinted by the Spirit of God on the eternal word, for the instruction of the inhabitants of heaven and the universe, throughout the countless ages of eternity, concerning the incarnation, suffering, atoning death, and priestly office of the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 5:39

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

The names I looked up for you. If you go to the interlinear bible link at the top of the forum page you will end up here:

Where it says "Search for" if you enter "Numbers 1:3" and press enter, you will end up here:

You can click on any of the blue words ... click on Aaron. You should end up here:

If the Hebrew which is under each of the verses in English looks not quite right you may have to download bst Hebrew fonts and add them to your windows font file if you want to see the actual Hebrew word structure.

If you want the whole chapter of a book for example search: "Numbers 1" etc.

Poke around this site, it is a great tool.
