This syle dates way back, they would burn animal fat, fish oil about anthing that would burn.
The upper pan tilts down on the flame end as the oil gets low or in the case of fat so it would slide toward the flame and keep melting to keep the wick wet. Wick is made of a piece of rolled cloth.

That is really neat and pretty! I sure do learn a lot from you. Did you learn to do this stuff by yourself or did someone teach you? You do have a talent and I absolutely love the history behind each piece.

My dad taught me some basic stuff with other things, stuff you need to know, the boring stuff. You know if I had the tools I would love to do glass blowing, glass stain, glass painting. I bet one needs all kinds of stuff to get started on that except for the painting. Stained glass would be my favorite to learn.

Learned by myself, if i see something i want then i make it and learn as i go.
Can`t afford to buy most stuff so gotta make it, plus it`s all good skills to know to fall back on.
Thanks. :):
