Well done!!

I used to do a lot of walking sticks and found this item useful. Put it on the end of an old furnace motor mounted to the bench. Really good for intermediate and some finishing sanding. It conforms to the shape of the wood without gouging. Also good for sharpening lawnmower blades quickly!! ... Didn't buy the item from this site ... too expensive, but site is a good reference. :tiphat:

Core a dug out canoe would be neat but a lot of work.
Willy as the item you reffer to would work great the whole idea was to make it as they would of in the last century, all by hand.
Thanks for the link and kind words.

How about a bent wood, woven or laminated up one?

All are a ton of work, for sure.

Thanks, eight hours work making it not counting final finish. It was fun though and may build another and might get a canoe. Fall when it cools and the leaves turn would be a nice time to be on the lakes. It would be relaxing too.

What all can you make on that thingee (sorry, I don't remember the name of it)?

Thanks, ya can make anything that you can carve out of wood, the shaving horse is just a way to hold onto what your working on. They were used mostly for draw knife work making spokes for wheels and chairs or tomahawk, axe, hammers or hatchet handles.

I love it!!! When you get a canoe and go out, bring your camera and take pictures (of course keep camera protected from getting wet)! Oh how I love canoing and in the fall how beautiful!!! Thats so wonderful, I wish a canoe for you!! The paddle is very nice!!! I am excited for you, I hope you get a canoe and can put your new paddle to use!

All ready to go, had it in the water once with my home made paddle but it`s a little long and heavy for this canoe. After it cools off this fall i`ll get some cool pics on one of the lakes around here, after the leaves turn would be cool.

Thats cool!!! Did you take your dog for a ride with you? I bet he loved it. When I was a kid we had a cocker spaniel and we took him on a canoe ride. He kept trying to jump out and swim because he wanted some ducks close by.

Now thats nice. Enjoy and definitely capture some fall pics for us here when it starts rolling.
