My bible says this right before this scripture.
The earliest and most reliable manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have John 7:53-8:11.
What does this mean with this scripture? And what was Jesus writing in the dirt do you think?

Beginning about 300 Catholic's did some editing and adding to the Bible. One example being casting out a demon requiring fasting.
This passage bothers me in that it is not consistent with other writings or style of the NT. There is no teaching about salvation. The writing in the dirt makes no sense. The Jews would not have walked away so easily.
So, while I can live with it in it would not surprise me to be an add.

I also found the scripture odd. The dirt part makes no sense to me either.

Scary. And i'm pretty sure there is no requisites to casting out a demon besides faith and Jesus' Name. Silly Catholics and their paganistic rituals.

Yep. Mosaic Law punished both.
