I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum for this question, so please feel free to move it to a more appropriate place if necessary.

My question:

When is a Christian, who takes a vow to God, released from that vow, if ever?

Thank you.

At death I believe, but it has become quite watered down and meaningless. A marriage vow is before God, yet see how many divorces!

all the best...

Thank you, kay-gee, for your response. I agree. I was hoping, however, that I might get more views so that I could understand some things in my own mind. I believe I'll just have to work it out for myself.

God bless.

On marriage in God's eyes there are specific reasons one can divorce, adultly and a non Christian spouse wanting a divorce.

It goes on to say if those divorced wish to remarry someone, they should marry each other again. But, if there is an intervening marriage to someone else then they cannot remarry.

On oaths we are to promise, not to swear by God or such, because oaths are often broken and you don't want to break one to God.

Marriage is a sworn vow, not an oath or promise.

Secular thought, law and all the rest do not change or soften these truths.
