That thing is so deep you can fit the statue of liberty into it, and it still won't reach the top.

Authorities blamed it on a broken sewer line? :(

Not kidding. Water drills are fast. A broken water or sewer line is a water drill.

Also, draining a water table can allow sink holes to form.

Water issues are way more important than many realized and few areas are dealing with them correctly.

Given a choice between build and do the right thing, build wins.

Sheesh! Leave it to man to royally screw things up.

People expect them to provide an answer for world peace and every other ill they have, and yet they can't do anything without causing more harm.

Those holes are amazing, I just finished a study on the Diavik mine for work. That sink hole scared me a little, yeap , the only place we a truely safe is the arms of our Almighty Father:D

You are cruising along a major highway and going through community after community then near right at the IN-IL line hit this on the Tri-State Toll Road:

That is near Lake Michigan going into Chicago. Notice you are only looking at part of the quarry with the highway on a land bridge through the middle of the quarry.

The quarry is miles wide. Quite a view.

Reality is much bigger than the pics. That is more quarry you see looking under the bridge at the other side. Much deeper over there. :D
