As brothers and sisters can you help give me some advice as I try different churches. Now I know this is hard to just sum up and the simple answer would be to just stick to Gods Word. Now that is simple and true!... but Satans deceptions can be less simple and more sneaky. So what would you say would be some new age type things to look out for ...
Now the reason I ask this is because I tried one this last Sunday and there was something about that pastor. I won't go into detail but I wrote him a letter and I will see how he responds and I think that will answer my questions.
I also don't want to blind myself from a good pastor because of my nerves or because I am being too cautious. There is not one man who is 100% right all the time; only one was and that was Jesus. I have found every pastor to go off on something wrong here and there; that must be why God says to not listen to just one man because we can than be deceived.
You can study history as a begining and the development of religions but you must study history of middle east too especially Israel,Egypt,Iraq.
You must ask important questions like what was Adam's language ?
Why Arabs and Jews call Egypt "Misr" ? What Misr means ?
Why God insisted to mention Jesus ancestors names in the Bible many times ?
Why there's pyramids in Egypt ? Sudan ? England ? North and south America ?
small peramids on Chinese graves ? and Why many of them comes back in history to about 5000 years ?
Was the tower of Babel a pyramid ?
Ask and answer using catechism
it's great thing to care about your salvation and it's very important to love history to understand what happened ? and move
on , It's like a torch on the way
You can also compare History books with the Bible .
Pray for me and may Jesus Christ be with you .

Only one criteria needed...Does the church fit the New Testament pattern. It is the body of Christ or it is not! PERIOD!

Historical study in conjunction with Biblical study is important but basing your religion upon it first is dangerous. The Bible is not a Social/Cultural document. It is a document that exist to change society and culture.
You must ask important questions like what was Adam's language ?An interesting but not a valuable question in one's studies regarding God.
Why Arabs and Jews call Egypt "Misr" ? What Misr means ?Egypt plays a symbolic meaning in the Bible. Basically secular worldliness and not good.
Why God insisted to mention Jesus ancestors names in the Bible many times ?Proof of Christ's claims and linkage to the Abrahamic and other Covenant promises.
Why there's pyramids in Egypt ? Sudan ? England ? North and south America ?
small peramids on Chinese graves ? and Why many of them comes back in history to about 5000 years ?Historically interesting and challenges sciences proclamations about history in a number of areas. But they are not Bibles in stone or any such thing. They are all linked to false religions stemming from Pre-Babel history.
Was the tower of Babel a pyramid ?Nope. It was a zigaret.
Ask and answer using catechismAbsolutely not! Man made and based on human authority, not God's.

on , It's like a torch on the way

Pray for me and may Jesus Christ be with you .Yes, history is important. But no, it does not explain the Bible. The Bible explains history.

Ramy I do thank you for your effort but I don't know much about that stuff at all myself. I am just looking for a church that is in touch with God and knows Him and what He expects out of us. One that follows Jesus's teachings and knows that He is the One and only Son, the Christ and our Lord. One that knows He washes us clean and makes us new. One that says Hes our Savior.
I just don't want to get sucked into one, say for example, that goes along too much with feelings to where they drift away from Gods Word. It is not an easy thing looking for a new church.
The children programs are important for my daughter too. So it is important to me what they are teaching her and to make sure they teach her something. Not to have it be just play time and snack time. She's old enough and NEEDS to start learning more about Jesus.
No I don't like this separation there is from different denominations. We all come from one body as said in the NT and so we must not make ourselves separate. But so many leaders out there seem good at first and than fall way off and won't listen when you show them plain and blunt scripture. Pride thing I guess. They are blinded by their own interpretations.
There is just a lot of talk on CTZ here and there about New Age stuff thats popping up in churches and I am just curious for an outline for some of them. I know and trust that the HS will lead me to whats the Truth and whats a deception through my conscious and the bible. I will be filled with joy and restful when He leads me there to the right one. Just to sit there and think this is good.
There is a Christian radio station that has a man on there named David Jeremiah and boy is he good. Every time he gives a sermon it is so true and good. Sometimes I learn stuff but it basically just makes Gods Word set more firm in my heart. When God works through someone, without a doubt one can tell.
