I wanted to ask a question, I have heard from other Christians that Easter and Christmas are both pagan and are ungodly. They say that these holidays are evil because they come from a pagan background. What do you all think??

overcome evil with good

easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ

that is not evil
the bunnies and the eggs are from a pagan background
the goddess of fertility
today we do not worship pagan gods
instead the egg represents new life
and spiritual rebirth
some places dye the eggs red to represent
the blood of Christ
i will get to christmas later

Where'd the Eggs and Bunnies Come From?
Stories behind the many symbols of Easter
by Martha R. Fehl and Randy Bishop

Have you ever wondered why we do what we do at Easter? Why do many of us eat ham and dye eggs? How are these traditions related to Christ's resurrection?

For Christians all over the world, Easter is a time of great joy and great pageantry. Some aspects of our Easter celebrations stem directly from the biblical account of Christ's death and resurrection, while others do not. Like all holidays, Easter's traditions have a rich history.

The name “Easter” has its roots in ancient polytheistic religions (paganism). On this, all scholars agree. This name is never used in the original Scriptures, nor is it ever associated biblically with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For these reasons, we prefer to use the term "Resurrection Sunday" rather than "Easter" when referring to the annual Christian remembrance of Christ's resurrection.

I don't believe that days of the year can be evil per se. There is nothing wrong with observing a holiday of any origin. We have that freedom as Christians. (Collosians 2:16) There is no commandment in scripture to observe Christmas or Easter. There is no historical or biblical evidence that the early Christians practised them. At the church I attend, we commerorate the Lords death, burial and reserrection, each Sunday through the partaking in the Lords Supper. That, we are commanded to do!
Who dosen't love Cristmas turkey and chocolate Easter eggs? Knock your self out!

I respect those who do and don't celebrate such holidays as long as they do not demand one must do so or you don't love Christ or demand it is Biblical.

I believe in celebrating such things anytime during the year felt appropriate and as often as felt needed.

Catholicism to absorb other groups more successfully absorbed parts of their religions. Thus we got Christmas, Easter, Lent, Mary and on and on.

It is never healthy to embrace what is not fact nor is it unhealthy to come together in a human way.

Does anybody here in this forum think that homosexuality is Ok or is it a sin. Is it a choice or were you born with it.

I think people use the excuse as being born with being gay as a way to accept it and look at it as they can't change. I don't think its a disorder or disease or anything of genetics of the sort. I do however see a trend with many who were sexually assaulted become gay and not understand why they were gay.

So yes it is a sin.
