O.k. this really bothered me at work and still kinda is so I am going to share it with you.

I was emptying trash at work and one basket was heavy so I looked inside. If it was old telephone books or something I was going to set them aside so my barrel of trash doesn't get too heavy. As I looked inside I saw it was all kinds of good conditioned nicknack's someone was throwing away.

So I boxed them up and set them in our employee office leaving a note that said "Someone was throwing these nice things away if anyone wants to take them home go ahead". Some people took most of them home.

4 days later our supervisor came by to dropped off some supplies and saw the decos and note and wrote all of us a note "If something is in the trash than it is trash. We are not allowed to take any of it home. It is considered stealing and it is grounds for termination".

Stealing?! I was really bothered by that and so was others. I said to my team "Taking something that someone put in a trashcan is not stealing. That is a false accusation. That is only a company policy. They can call it what they want and we just won't do that any more but it is not stealing."

I have extreme issues with others trusting me or claiming false accusations to me or to others. So it kinda bothered me. So at any rate now that I got that off my chest...

Thank x :D

I believe it was a simple matter of ...

.. whomever the big shot was that wrote
the seering note is guilty of melodrama!

Many people in this world have nothing better
to do than go after the so-called "little guys"
because they themselves are under so much
scrutiny and pressure from their superiors.

When someone leaves a nasty note like that,
it is almost a sure-fire bet that they are NOT
having a good day. Else, they would have
left a nicer note.

I think what you did was very sweet, dear,
and apparently, many others who took you
up on your kindness thought so, as well.

This may seem a bit weird, but I would have
done some personal research to find out
what that person's favorite morning drink is
and I would have brought it in to him/her,
and apologized.

See how quickly you might be promoted.

I used to be a building janitor, and I was
picked on and practically spat upon by
some of the "upper personnel" there, but
it didn't stop me from being a nice guy,
and talking about my Beautiful Lord Jesus.

And had I stayed longer, I would have been
promoted to part time floor laymen/part-time
janitor. Kinda like how they start many off
as a dishwasher in restaurants, and then
start training them to be cooks.

We live in such a disposable society. when items lose their eye appeal...into the trash they go. Stealing from the garbage is a little over the top as a company policy I think!

all the best...

That is a good idea to bring that lady a coffee or something and an apology. The problem is, is that I have never met this lady before. She works some where else and travels to other buildings for inspections on the work quality. Everyone talks bad about her. I guess they have met her many times. I have talked to her on the phone once and she seemed like a really nice woman. I think your right with what you said about her having a hard time maybe with her boss or having a bad day and taking it out on the little guys. Your right I bet she has a lot of pressure or stress from someone higher up and she just needs someone to come at her differently for once.

Since I have started working in the building there has been no complaints. Before there was complaints every day. That is only because they needed an extra person and now they have one so everyone can concentrate on their own stuff now. So when that lady does inspections she doesn't find much of anything any more.

I just have to worry about what God thinks and what He calls things, not what the world considers things to be. Be at peace with that and show others the wonderful way God works. I put a mind set that I am working for the Lord. Work is much more enjoyable that way. :D In fact it makes one sing while they work.

I know Kaygee it is. I see something that is really nice and useful in the trash (believe me I don't go through trash) I will put it to use. I can't stand the way people throw so many good things away because they are lazy or don't care; there are so very many in this world that go without. It makes me sick to my stomach really. I think God would want me to put trash to better use if I come across any such thing. But for privacy reasons I won't purposely go through peoples trash.

When I think of this I think o.k. God sees people, that the world may think is trash, and He turns them into something beautiful and useful. (not wanting to compare things to people but...) That is kinda what I think of.

The Touch of the Master's Hand

It was battered and scarred,
And the auctioneer thought it
Hardly worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.
"What am I bid, good people", he cried,
"Who starts the bidding for me?"
"One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?"
"Two dollars, who makes it three?"
"Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three", But, No,
From the room far back a grey haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow,
Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody, pure and sweet,
As sweet as the angel sings. The music ceased and the auctioneer
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said "What now am I bid for this old violin?"
As he held it aloft with its' bow.
"One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?"
"Two thousand, Who makes it three?"
"Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
Going and gone", said he. The audience cheered,
But some of them cried,
"We just don't understand."
"What changed its' worth?"
Swift came the reply.
"The Touch of the Masters Hand." And many a man with life out of tune,
All battered with bourbon and gin,
Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd
Much like that old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine,
A game and he travels on.
He is going once, he is going twice,
He is going and almost gone.
But the Master comes,
And the foolish crowd never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the Touch of the Master's Hand.
