I feel a lot the same myself. I don't know what to do about it. I believe with all my heart and soul but feel kinda of spiritually lazy sometimes. Hard to really describe it in words. The entire New Testament is worth a read through.

I also know how you feel. I want to do so much for God. I have given myself completely to Him but I am now at a lost with what to do with myself so it is pleasing to Him. I used to do many things that I repented from once I found Him and now what am I to do with myself now I have all this empty time on my hands? I also feel like I never do enough.

I think one thing we can understand is that nothing we do will ever be enough. God is so good to us that there is no way on earth we could even begin to pay Him back for what He has done for us. I think we are consciously aware of this and it makes us sad to see the laziness, ungratefulnesses, and sinfulness of the world and since we are still in the world we see it in our selfs from time to time. (I think what it is, is that we really want to go home).

I think some days are harder than others. But yes I struggle with the same thing. I have so much energy to get up and go and get out there; but who, what, where, when ect. So I sit here and kinda just do the best I can with what is thrown at me for the day. I want to move though and spread the Word. I feel like I am waisting His time.

And yes the whole bible; especially Matthew and Romans. :):

Finding a purpose and feeling like you are getting anywhere is getting harder and harder.

But we cannot give up. Have to hang in there.

Look in the OT at how often prophets did nothing, sometimes even hiding. But when needed they went into action.

Study, pray and be ready for when called.

:news: :hmm:There is a subtle, yet critical difference between inactivity and inactive directionlessness. The latter item is a sign that you are not properly pursuing the Lord's will for your life. However, the former item can apply to properly or improperly pursuing the Lord's will for your life equally, as determined by its respective context.

What does this mean? This means that if you cannot distinguish between inactivity and inactive directionlessness, then you are in a dangerous and deceptive place. :sinking:

:hmm:So, in application, if you have an insatiable hunger to serve the Lord, yet you are trapped in a realm of inactive directionlessness, then I speculate that the Lord is trying to draw your attention to himself. I suggest that you concentrate on listening to the Lord, not simply praying to the Lord and engaging in generalized personal reflection.

I think I listen and hear but if not, than what would you say listening is? I would say a big part is by living His word and listening to one's conscious.

Well, as a starting point of discussion, how has the Lord communicated with you in the past?

Through the bible and my conscience.

Some ironic circumstances too.

He communicates through His unchanging written word. All you can do is live your life to which you've been called, to the best of your ability. You don't have to do some earth shattering deeds to be recognized as faithful. We cant all be Mother Teresa or Billy Graham or whatever.

But these items are too generalistic. Can you be more specific about how these things happen?

When you study the Word dilligently, it becomes entrenched in you, and you actually begin to think the thoughts of God. That is what is meant by writing kthe law upon your hearts. Your heart and mind, in turn, govern your actions.

This is not a difficult concept as far as I can tell. I cannot expect an angel to visit me bearing heavenly instructions as did as Abraham or have God given dreams as Joseph. Those were special interventions in select persons lives by the Almighty for special purposes. With the completion of the written text, God has provided everyone with everything everyone needs to know pertaining living the life and fulfilling his will.

 Thats right Kaygee. I as well don't think it's difficult to hear Him speaking to you. Whats that scripture; His sheep know their shepherds voice... something along those lines. He made it so all who want to know Him and hear Him can do so right with scripture.

I agree with ya there, we all don`t have to be perfect or feel like we are doing something great all the time.
I see a trend of people becoming boastful in their walk and deeds nowdays that is very disturbing.
I think God lets us know plain enough when it`s Him that wants us to do His will, the rest of the time we have to enjoy His written word, hear His loving voice in our hearts and be thankful for what we have.
Help people when we can and pray for others helps too.
We also must remember that we may be suffering, idle, for Gods purpose or as punishment for sin.

BAKER, you said: I want to do so much for God.

I have given myself completely to Him but I am now
at a loss with what to do with myself so it is pleasing to Him.

Sis, take comfort in this: If you have given yourself
completely, then our Lord will not ask for more. If
you have given your all, then there obviously can
be no more to give. That's not to say you HAVE
no more to give. I merely mean that He will not
ask more of you than what you CAN offer, and
if you have offered yourself completely,
then rest assured that He is
Pleased with your
contributions
thus far.

 Yep.

See, here's the thing: When you say you have offered
yourself "COMPLETELY", then you mean that you are
at Jesus's Disposal, to be Used whenever and
however He Sees fit. Amen??

;)

So, just keep telling your children about Him,
say "Grace" before meals, and you'll be fine,
dear, because you are doing a grand deed
just by raising your children in His Holy Love.

Believe me, that is enough. He doesn't need
anyone to do anything for Him, as He is
Almighty God!

woo Hoooo! :yowza:

Okay?

All you need to remember is that, if and when
your services are needed, He will Call upon you,
even if you don't know He is Doing it.

 Yep.

Upon entering Heaven and being offered the
chance to ask Him or one of His Angels any
questions, be sure to ask how many times
and in how many ways did He Use you when
you were here in the world. You may be
shocked to know the answer.

In Jesus, forever!

John

Thats right ITW and I see it as disturbing as well. And thanks John for that encouragement and you are also right.
I think the way I was raised sometimes puts a huge effect on me not being able to relax and see that stuff is o.k.
(a little different direction here but...) That is why personally, when people from my church wanted to help me it was so hard for me to accept the help. Not because of pride, but because my dad hammered into my head that I was never to take anything offered to me I was to work or it.
