Why at church do they have the pastor say some sort of scripture and than together as a congregation everyone says out loud some sort of scripture. It sounds like chanting and it makes me uncomfortable. I never participate in that. Why would we need to say something out loud all at the same time? That cannot be comfortable for a new comer to the church either.

It is a carry over from the RCC who got it from Eastern Mysticism, Occult and Pagan religions that believe repitition of words by faith releases their power. It is also indoctrination. pure recital versus speaking from meaning.
Even in OT Israel, the words were read to the audience who was to consider their meanings. Reciting requires focus on repitition, not consideration.

The scripture in itself does not make me uncomfortable but the chanting of it does. I feel when done this way it takes something away and puts some sort of mundane task into place. Exactly, repetition; same thing we do at a job that is boring. Thats what it does; it takes away the heart of what was intended to be spoken and sink in, and turns it into a procedure. A procedure is something you have to do to get it done, not something that is heartfelt, and thats what it does. I don't know; my own personal I suppose. I can read scripture and do it for Him with my full concentration and effort and it doesn't feel programed. This repeating feels like a program, thats what chanting is, is programming.
