Now I know that Christmas is nothing about getting, it is about giving. I was really thinking about stuff and boy it is hard. I pass the toys in the store all the time and I want to cry. I am absolutely determined to get my daughter at least one present!!! She is totally aware of whats going on around her and she cannot be left with no present because of our hardship at the moment. :sob:

Also with Santa I tell her he is not real and just a story for many reasons and I thought of another reason that thats a good idea today. Parents say "You better be good or Santa won't bring you nothing for Christmas". Imagine the really poor families. Do those kids feel they are not good enough because there are no presents under the tree at Christmas. :(

Oh please if you can afford it, give just one present this year to the angel tree or salvation army. It is so much more than a present to a child. It makes them feel cared for and remembered.

Also being good it should be enough to have someone tell you good job. Not to get a present each time you achieve something. I am seeing so many parents doing this every time their child achieves something. That is setting them up for failure in a way in the real world. In the real world you are lucky to even get acknowledge for doing something good minus a reward. :(

Don't get me wrong rewards are good at times but a pat on the back and some words are the best.

Yea. We had years where we did without something to buy a present for our young son.

I know the feeling.
