What are all the versions and where did they come from and which ones are right with God? With so many different versions of bibles it can make one confused. Now it is understandable for me to see partly why and that is because there are so many different languages spoken, that we must have many versions so all can read. To me those should be called translations not versions. What I don't understand is with different versions like the Catholic bible (I forgot what it was called, I saw it in the book store), the KJV, the NIV and so on. In Revelations it says:
Rev 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

So with God saying this; what is the extent of His message? Does God mean change anything like for example the word was to were? Or does He just mean changing the message within itself? It talks of prophecy and words so I would say both. It's a hard one because so many different languages have different words to describe things. The English language has more words to describe one thing than I think any other language does. Also when God talks of suffering the plagues described does He refer to the suffering of plagues on this earth or in the pit?

One thing I don't like seeing personally is when people copy scripture they cut it short. I think we should lay the whole sentence or massage so onlookers can see, especially if they do not have a bible.

Yep. Taking out of context is a constant annoyance to me as well.

On the origins issue, that is so complex an issue. Takes a lot of reading, research and such to get to bottom lines.

It is shocking to many that the NIV and NASB actually are translated from the oldest manuscripts found to date. The KJV is not translated from a single manuscript, but a compilation of manuscripts with RCC adds.

The NIV and NASB are translations. KJV and others are not, they are revisions of prior Bibles.

But does that mean the KJV is less a teacher of the Gospel message? Absolutely not.

Does it means it can mislead in some non central Christian doctrines? Unfortunately yes.

It is a huge area of study. Nothing simple about it.

O.K. whats the difference from the NIV to the TNIV? And why in the world does any Christian book store think they can charge so much for bibles. I told these 2 workers today at a Christian book store that it was sickening that the store was asking for so much money for bibles and I was leaving very sad. I was very sad because I couldn't afford to buy my friend a bible. I also told them I was going to a non Christian book store to buy a bible that was quality made for only $8. I tell you what, when I saw those bibles on that shelf for those prices I was in shock the way people were trying to make profit from Gods Word. O.k. if one wants a fancy bible than they can spend more money for one I suppose, but there should always be quality made bibles for an affordable price on the shelf. If I had a Christian book store and wanted it to be upright I would take a handful of bibles everyday and put them out front for people to take that needed them; free of charge.

There is an outfit called the Gideons International, that give away bibles for free. Mostly they are the small new testaments. Also the ones in hotels are usually placed by the Gideons. Don't know about TNIV. Likely a spin-off of the NIV of some sort.

all the best...

You shouldn't.

It is one of those gender neutral/PC perversions.
