Wow absolutely amazing Jessie! The deer you have there are huge! And the damage is crazy. The volcano is beautiful.I forgot when did you say it last erupted?

the main eruption was in 1980. she bulged on the side facing idaho.
and blew up that side. we had to wear something over our faces for about a month because of the ash. hard to breathe!

she still contiues to erupt, sometimes a good size steam ash cloud, but nothing like that first one. mostly now she is rebuilting her dome.

glad you enjoyed the pictures!

the last picture you thought were deer I'm pretty sure are elk. (need my glasses LOL)
but in southern oregon we have deer that big! they are called mule deer.

this side of the state we have these little things for deer. I thought they were babies. dh told me many yrs ago nope they are full grown! to me that just was'nt a deer.

They are big! Yeah there are little deer in Georgia, about the size of a medium dog sometimes a little bigger but not much. We went to this hunting store with my parents and they have real stuffed animals about every game you could think of and that was sure neat. They also had different meats for sandwiches in the cafeteria to eat. If I remember right I had elk burger. I think my dad had ostrich. I think either my husband or mom had bison and I can't remember who the other had. So the last eruption just happens to be the year I was born. Do they have any scientific info. on it's current state? Wearing the masks for a month would not be fun. I saw one picture of a woman wearing one.

yep it was no fun wearing masks outside, ash everywhere and you did'nt dare
wash your car, hose it down but not wash it.

I'll try to get some info on how its doing now for you!

we have bison out here. boy they are big animals!

deer the size of a med. dog. boy thats little and I thought these ones here where small!

I miss having a good venision steak...

heres a site for you...

http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/

I think the cams are down right now cause of the weather though.
probably pretty windy up there.
maybe it will be back on line later today.
but it will give you other info as well.

How about them deer up in Michigan? Wow sure are plentiful. Even crossing the interstate.

Yes the deer in Michigan are plentiful. The average doe I am guessing by looks is about 120lbs to 140 lbs. I would guess the bucks are about 150 to 200 lbs. But those are just guesses by looks. There are oodles of them every where! In the country on a 15 mile drive you may see an average of 1 to 3 herds that contain any where from 5 to 30 deer in a heard. Sometimes in the road and sometimes on the edge looking at you. Sometimes they dart towards your car and sometimes they run away. I think right now is archery season. I am going to check out that other site here in a minute Jessie and see if it's working.

Yeah semi trucks will smack a deer and not even know it and than a car will come along at 70 mph and hit the dead deer. It can cause serious accidents. My husband hit a dead deer on the expressway last year.

My moms island is bad too. Almost every one who lives there has hit a deer at least once in there life. She told me she saw a moose the other day. Now tha is a little more rare.

There are also so many different types of species of deer it's crazy! Yes the more up north (at least 4 hrs. plus) you go the more likely you may spot a moose and cars have been known to hit moose as well. Because they are so tall your headlights can't catch the glow of their eyes either. But moose are shy so many don't see them.

We moved to Washington State but still haven't gone there yet. We have visited Mt Rainer several times, though.
