I thought this was interesting...there seems to be a lot of puzzles in the bible....

It is interesting to note that 1/3 of the 66 books ofthe Bible is in the form of "letters".The last 22 books of Scripture are letters written by the apostles to the churches and their co-workers. It is also interesting to note that there are 22 Hebrew letters in all, from Aleph to Tav (see Psalm 119) , i.e. from Alpha to Omega. If it seems coincidental that there are 22 Hebrew alphabets ( letters) and 22 Epistles (letters ) and both sets are "letters", I would rather attribute that to the wisdom of God displayed. Do write in your letters to be read by all and do read the letters from all. May the grace of God be with you.

There are most assuredly patterns in God's work.

A little off topic if I need to start a new thread for this one let me know but why do people say that the NIV bible I have is not true and its changed by Catholics? Why do they say other versions are not true and therefore they do not believe and they say things I bring up that are in the bible I can't take for face value because its been added and taken out. Didn't God say in the end of Revelations for no one to change a single thing of the bible or thy would suffer the plagues that are in the bible? Some say not plagues some say it says instant death. But my bible says plagues. (I suppose I am talking mostly about one specific person who thinks they know all history of all versions of the bible). Don't Catholics have their own bible and don't they still change things in it today? Wouldn't that really really anger God? I am sorry but I get really frustrated when someone tells me my bible is not real. I should pray about it and have God help me get a different attitude towards people like this. To me its like I say 1+1=2 and they deny that the answer is 2 no matter how I explain anything to them. Thats why its so frustrating to me to have one say this. I don't know how to explain it any better. Please help me so the next time this is thrown at me I can give them a historical answer. History, facts, physical proof and science is all some will hear.

Let me assure you a.baker, there is nothing wrong with your Bible. There is a contingent that believes there is only one correct Bible and that is King James. They are a little mis-guided. For one thing KJV is an English translation. What about the French, German, Spanish, Italian, etc...etc...? Are they all wrong then? The Catholics did not change much to my knowledge. There is enough in their own version to seriously contradict them, if they actually studied it! They did add the apocrypha, Which is a bunch of writings from between the testament period. Scholars are divided on their authenticity. One Bible with a serious problem is the New World Translation printed by the Jehovahs Witness. Beware of that one. A few key things have been altered to fit their beliefs. (John chapter 1). It is good for you to have a number of different translations so you can cross check stuff. Sometimes the wording is clearer in another Bible of a certain thing you are studying. Try to collect them if you can. Often times people will give you a Bible if you ask. The old stand by for me is the NASV (New American Standard). Hope I have helped to lay some of your fears to rest...
all the best...

Adding, the Catholics didn't write the NIV. That is KJV Only propoganda and lies.

In fact, the KJV is based on Catholic manuscripts. No, not the manuscripts of the purely Catholic Bible, but most assuredly the earliest manuscripts of the RCC.

The NIV is actually a new translation based upon actual early Greek and Hebrew mansucripts, directly.

The KJV is actually a revision, not a true first translations. And in its own history been revised about 7 times.

NIV and NASB are good translations. Cross referencing them is good to do in serious study.

Thank-x a lot Kaygee and Core. I will run that by him and see what he says. I don't like it when I assume, in fact my assuming is wrong most of the time but I assume he will argue with me and not look into it any farther. At any rate its hard when people deny especially once they get some knowledge or used to believe in Jesus. But thats for God to worry about I would guess. I will ask more questions if he tries to argue some "facts" with me.

The Bible one chooses to study from is small potatoes. It should never become a test of faith.

I do disagree with that.

Using official Catholic Bibles, New World Translation, in example, and such most assuredly will lead to error.

The KJV misleads many because they cannot handl the archaic English. And it does have some doctrinal based mistranslations in it.

True faith comes from true knowledge.
