Last night I was invited to dinner at a couples home who are new to the church I attend. turns out they are Word of Faith people . I have never met anyone who is this , I have only heard it mentioned here, but not met anyone before. After dinner the conversation started out normal , but quickly shifted to prophisizing and speaking in tounges and something about a spirit man , Not the Holy spirit but a spirit man?

They are very nice people , but I found the whole thing uncomfortable . they talked about someone they know who believes Jesus died for his sins, was resserected, has repented for his sin , but has a difficult time believing the Holy Spirit now dwells in him , so they say he is not saved .

Should we all be speaking in tounges like the Day of Pentecost ? I do find several refrences to this happening when you recieve the Holy Spirit. It has not happened to me , so according to what they are saying Im not really saved either. But quite frankly I dont believe that . Any info would be helpful.

I was involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the early '70s BUT grew to reject most of the enterprise.

This thread might prove helpful. (http://p208.ezboard.com/fxcatholicfrm14.showMessage?topicID=335.topic)

Thank you for your help with those articles .
Its my understanding from reading the bible , Acts 2 the day of Pentecost, that when they spoke in tounges , they were infact speaking in languages that were understood by some that where there , because there were men of all nations there. Actual languages, not babble .

That would be my understanding also, maybe someone will elaborate.

Les Feldick's website and materials are a strong witness to the truth.

as you see wof is based on works for salvation.

you have to speak in tongues. my sil said "but thats where you get your power from"

its the most graceless, godless, and legalistic stuff around.

Yep. What happened at Pentecost bears no resemblance to what WoF, Pentecostalism and such teach about tongues.

The have built a doctrinal system around it, conserning salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, and more, that does not exist in the Bible.
