I was watching a video that said that the word sorcery translated , means pharmacy, in todays language , is this true?

Yes. The KJV does not do justice the word.

It pretty much meant those who used drugs to gain altered states of conscience, allow more open contact with demons and gave the false idea they could operate in the mytical and spiritual relms.

A deadly invitation to demons.

And a death penalty in the OT.

that is interesting, the video I was watching was Jack Van Imp, I wasnt sure because he seems to give his own views on scripture and says them as if they were absolute. I had a bad feeling about alot of what he had to say. He said that drug addicts were sorcerers.

That is not accurate.

Using drugs to 'connect' with the spiritual, mystic and so on is sorcery.

I have heard Van Imp say over the years that excessive drug use would be one of the signs of the last days just before the rapture. Don`t know how much worse it is than anytime past but the population and the amount has to be greater.:(

I agree on that point.

Drug, alcohol, sex and all the excesses and abuses are around. And signs of the time.

We must remember that this does not mean that all drugs are wrong. God gave doctors a gift for healing. We should take our blood pressure medication and other things for physcial needs.
If we have a mental illness we should take medication. But, taking medication so that you can enter a state of different concsciousness, would indeed be wrong.
