the armour of God

I hear people say and I have read it several times , to put on the "Full Armour of God ". what exactly does this mean ? a friend gave me a list of scripture that seems to be taken from all over the Bible doesnt seem to make any sense. I would like to know what this really means. thanks

In the simpliest form, it means sanctification, as in growing in Christ.

Faith, knowledge, our gift(s), desire to work for God.

They all aid us to grow in self, by becoming more understanding, dependent on and wise, in Christ.

They aid us in reaching others, by overcoming our fear of the reaction of others, learning how to answer others, to give reason for loving and wanting Christ and to simply show, by our lives, it is worth doing.
