What is the Apocalypse?
It has two meanings.
In the general, it means prophetic revelation from and about God.
In the main, it is mostly used to refer to events from the First seal on. Even more specifically the Trib.

Does it mean the same thing as The Day of the Lord?
Also, what/who are the four horsemen?

In the broad context, that would be included.
In the more common usage, on the Trib portion of the DOTL.
Also, what/who are the four horsemen?
The riders that go out in the first four Seals.

The First Seal is the AC conquering with peace.
Arrowless bow indicates conquest by peace. Horses are not well defined directly, but you always see them, in a spiritual context, as carrying a rider, purpose or something at speed to get it done.
Now remember here, the AC is the king that was returned. I firmly believe this is the demon who was with Alexander as king.
The AC dead on parallels Alexander. And Alexander always tried to conquer by peaceful treaty first, which is what opens the 70th Week of Daniel.
The Second Horse is war. Conquest by peace swiftly descends into conquest by war. Ligthening fast war that kills many.
Alexander would strike like lightening and mecilessly on those who would not accept his treaties.
Third is drought and food shortages. The result of war is the destruction of food supplies, ceasing of farming and such which is further impacted by draught. And famine triggers disease and famine.
Fouth is death. War, famine and disease kill 1/3 of the earths population in the first half of the Trib.
Only Israel is untouched, due to them being protected by the Two Witnesses and God's holding back of their Tribulation to give the Two time to work.
The 5th, 6th and 7th Seal are on day 1,260, when the ministry of the Two come to an end, Israel rejects their warnings and Christ, the Woman flees and the 144,000 are marked.
The Four Seals reek havoc and destruction in the Gentile nations for 3.5 years.
Yes, demons work with the AC for the full 4 years. No, Seals 2-4 are not specific beings, but the sum of the works of the AC, demons and evil people. Along with the withholding of God's blessings.

5When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart[a (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=73&chapter=6&version=31#fen-NIV-30784a)] of wheat for a day's wages,[b (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=73&chapter=6&version=31#fen-NIV-30784b)] and three quarts of barley for a day's wages,[c (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=73&chapter=6&version=31#fen-NIV-30784c)] and do not damage the oil and the wine!"

what does this saying mean?

Food shortages. Famine setting in.
The oil and wine phrase are much debated in meaning.
But when one has to work a full day just to get enough grain to make plain bread, oil and wine are luxuries beyond their reach.
So, I guess it indicates that a warning, during a time where the bare basics of food are so costly people are going to struggle to get them and cannot think about buying luxuries, that they are not to even think about stealing such foods.
Say one makes $10/hour. On an 8 hour day that means that bread would cost upwards of $80 a loaf.
If that is the case, how much would meat, wine, cheese and so on cost?
The desparate and immoral would not hesitate to start stealing. Which is exactly what happens when people begin to starve.
