Been trying my hand at making some knives in the forge.
The first one is made from a railroad spike.

My first attempt at a friction folder, they were the first folding knives and only used friction to keep them open or closed.

Thanks :): lot of grinding and finishing, best i can do without a polisher. I like them old looking anyway.

Made this one today from a old large hacksaw blade, i left the teeth on the top so it can be used to saw wood or bone.

I have a similar knife that my father made, do like your enhancement with the teeth on the heel.
. . . the secondhand hacksaw blade is top quality steel.

Thanks Sid, they`er pretty easy to make, cold grind to shape so theres no tempering issues. I suppose i`ll have to make a sheath for it now.

I have no doubt you could make some good money with knife collectors.

Thanks, just something to do on these cold winter days, don`t like making too many of one thing. might make another ulu but bigger, maybe six inches accross these are only three inches wide.
