this is going to sound silly but here it goes.
I have some dolls my mom gave me. one is maybe outta the 40's belonged to
my dads sister when she was a child, I did'nt even know she had them until she gave it to me after dad passed was the time I went to get some papers from her that she conviently did'nt have.
everyone gets creeped out by them. its always the eyes.
its a bridal doll, looks a lot like my mom when she was younger.
there are even a few that are newer my sons girlfriend gave me and it creeps them out too.
are they just being superstitious??

MIght be just who they were connected with, how the eyes were made or it could be legit, as in some association with something not nice.
If they bother you that bad, sell them to a doll collector.

My husband is an antique dealer , he runs it out of our home. There have been several things that he has brought home that have made me feel uncomfortable , a particular painting comes to mind . I forced him to take it down it just gave me a feeling like there was something not good about it . I dont know why , It just did.

Hey, roman8, I grew up in the antique trade. So I know what you mean about some weird stuff being found at times.
Jessie, if you have general discomfort for dolls and you find any that have too realistic eyes or slightly strange face work, that would explain the discomfort.
As for association, things that have been associated with cults, mystics and such seem to carry a taint with them afterwards.
I have always felt that once touched and used by a demon there is always a connection between the item and the demon. Which some can feel.

thank you for helping me understand. I wanted to be sure thats what you were saying.
I guess I should let them go. its practically the only thing I have that belonged to that side of the family except a picture of my dad and a letter he wrote when I was a baby.
I will tell my husband to go ahead and let them go.
I have a big doll of my grandmas that my grandpa gave her before I was born,
and I dont have a problem with it at all. I dont think they do either.
its all stuff from my mom and dad that just never sets right. never feels clean.
always stressful or something I just cant seem to put my finger on.
I just asked my sons girlfriend to go look at that bridal doll and she said its a bit creepy to her too. so that was a unbiased opinion. shes never met any of them.
you know one thing about the dolls its like your being WATCHED
thats the creepy thing. esp. when I was young. I would cower in fear, feeling I was being watched by these things and nope I was'nt allowed to watch those creepy movies that put thoughts in your head either.
thanks Romans8 for your imput too.
I've often wondered about antiques. I like looking at old things but like you said sometimes theres just something there.

I was once told by an antique dealer that unusual things come from portraits and mirrors.
Kinda creepy since I like antiques.:(
