Throughout most of its history, the Worldwide Church of God - founded and led by Herbert W. Armstrong - was, theologically, a cult of Christianity (http://www.apologeticsindex.org/c45.html). Among other things, it rejected the doctrine of the Trinity (http://www.apologeticsindex.org/t10.html), the bodily resurrection of Jesus (http://www.ccci.org/whoisjesus/risenfounder.html)http://www.apologeticsindex.org/graphics/out4.gif, and salvation by grace through faith alone (http://www.billygraham.org/spiritualhelp/become.asp)http://www.apologeticsindex.org/graphics/out4.gif.
Sociologically, the movement had many cultic elements as well.
However, starting in the mid 1980's under Joseph Tkach Sr, and later his son, Joseph Tkach Jr. - the church's current leader - the Worldwide Church of God has undergone major changes in doctrine (http://www.apologeticsindex.org/d32.html) to the extend that is has rejected its heretical (http://www.apologeticsindex.org/h27.html) teachings, and instead has embraced orthodox (http://www.apologeticsindex.org/o00.html#orthodoxy) Christianity.
