Adults in the United States prefer a specific approach to deal with illegal immigration, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 43 per cent of respondents think securing the borders and figuring out ways to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country should be the government’s main focus.

Conversely, 30 per cent of respondents want the federal administration to figure out ways for illegal immigrants already working in the U.S. to become citizens if they meet certain requirements.

On Oct. 26, Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006—which authorizes the construction of a 1,100-kilometre barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border—saying,

We must reduce pressure on our border by creating a temporary worker plan. Willing workers ought to be matched with willing employers to do jobs Americans are not doing on a temporary basis. We must face the reality that millions of illegal immigrants are already here. They should not be given an automatic path to citizenship; that is amnesty. I oppose amnesty. There is a rational middle ground between granting an automatic pass to citizenship for every illegal immigrant and a program of mass deportation.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MI) said that he will “revisit” the idea of building a border fence along the US-Mexico border. Thompson is slated to become Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, when Democrats take power in January.

Instead, Thompson is recommending the virtual fence that, due to an outcry from the US electorate, went down to defeat earlier this year. Thompson said: "We might do away with it, or look at SBI Net. A virtual fence rather than a real one."

Our government spending tons of money buying video cameras that don't work.

. . . saw a segment on 20/20 or one of those type shows about that very thing.

We need about 1900 miles of this: http://www.weneedafence.com/images/Fence_Idea_sm.jpg

I still believe the vast majority want the illegals out. And feel just having a baby here does not entitle anyone to being a citizen.
