can anyone help me to understand what this means, I struggle alot with whether or not I am saved. Some days I am sure and then I will read something in the bible and I will question again .
1John V16-17
16:If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask and he will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death . There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17: All unrighteousness is sin , and there is sin not leading to death. NKJV

To understand it you have to look back to the beginning of the passage, which sets the context and subject.
4:1 sets the context testing spirits (meaning the reasons, motives, being and such behind what is happening).
This links into the broader context we see today of the 6th and 7th churches of Revelation, the 10 Virgins of Matthew 24, the Great Apostasy, those who stand before Christ offering their works for their salvation and so on. Meaning those who call themselves Christians, even believing they are Christians, but are not.
We see millions into WoF, false doctrines of signs and wonders, RCC works, JW, LDS and on and on. All calling themselves Christians with most being Foolish Virgins.
Just trying to set some practical examples, today to look at.
It says one way to identify them is in their rejection that Christ is God come in the flesh, as John 1 lays out. It says all such are false Christians, anti-Christs. Or, redefining Christ into another Christ, as the RCC does in making Christ subject to Mary.
These, and other ways, are all forms of denying who and what Christ is.
Another sign of such their refusal to listen and the believe the literal words of the Bible. They redefine words, deny grammar, deny context, spiritualize meanings and on and on to escape what the Bible literally says. Thus ending up with them being the oracles of God, their defined works and memberships needed for salvation and more and more errors.
Yep, in such as the WoF we even see them stripping Christ down to a human equal to them and all of them becoming gods equal to Christ in the resurrection.
It goes on to lay out differences in love and such a true Christian has for each other and all others. Love to the point of trying to show them their errors, with evidence from God, not their own theories, doctrines and wisdom.
Finally, it gets to your question, which is about those who call themselves brothers in Christ yet have fallen into these errors, never having found the true Christ or come to him by repentance through faith by grace alone, totally dependent solely on Christ's blood and the mercy of God for salvation.
We are to try to persuade them from their error to truth. Except if they have committed the sin that is guaranteed death.
That sin being the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Which means hardening ones heart and closing their minds and ears to hearing the Holy Spirit trying to lead them to salvation. For, if they will not hear him, our words are meaningless, since they are but tools of the Holy Spirit working on others.
Except for this sin, they are still sinners, but until they die, there is hope they can be persuaded to the truth. But once they cross the line of that sin, there is no hope, so even if their flesh is still alive, they are eternally dead.
Yes, the saints flesh and mind still sin. No, their spirit does not. Which is the sin talked about here. Being born-again versus still in sin and sinning in the spirit.

How?
Simply saying false Chrisitians think they are saved when they are not. They are to be warned unless they Baspheme the Holy Spirit, which is the sin that kills before physical death.
You see them standing before Christ pleading their preaching, works and so on. Thinking they are saved and Christ tells them they never belonged to him. They belonged to another Christ.

I think I understand what your saying here, so if they are to cross that line there hearts would be hard and it wouldnt matter what we said or did , nothing would change their minds. they would be lost forever. So basicly dont wast your time . so dont pray about it.
But if they have crossed that line how will we know ? My husband is hot and cold to the gospel , but I wont give up on him.

That is a hard one.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit convicts us to move on. Sometimes we should move on and leave it to someone else to finish. Sometimes we need to try a little harder, but know when we have done all we can.
Meaning sometimes the limit is in them and sometimes in us.

Yes this is what I had to relearn. I dont read anymore buddhism. I relized I was forming my own 'god'. But now I feel the Holy Spirit telling me to get out of the house....I have a really bad problem with sloth. Its not that I dont want to get out there and be a soldier of God...its just I am afraid I will fail him. I hardly ever leave the house. I have been reading the bible.

I am really scared of going to hell. I believe Christ is The Lord. I love him. But there's still fear that I am not loving God with all my mind and heart.

No one loves God with all their heart, as we should. Our human natures are just that messed up.
God knows who loves him, and in his mercy forgives our shortcomings. He sees us trying to get it right and is there with us to help.
The fact you are concerned and see you could do it better does say you love him and are sorry for basically being human.
