View Full Version : When Jehovah's Witnesses come a knocking. . . .
For a while, I had Jehovah's Witnesses coming to my home to bother me regularily.
After you hear their spiel a couple times, they get really predictable.
This link is so close to the reality of JW apologists:
*knock knock*
Householder: Hello?
Witness: Hi. My name is Brother Zealous and I'm here to offer you these magazines giving you a hope for the new world.
Householder: I have my own religion, thank you very much.
Witness: Oh ... ah-hem ... well, I'm glad to hear that.
Householder: You are?
Witness: Oh yes, you see, we talk to people of all religions.
Householder: Obviously. But aren't you here to convert me or something?
Witness: Well ... yes, that too.
Householder: I'm pretty happy with my religion, though. Why should I convert?
Witness: Well, we have the one and only true religion. Your religion is false.
Householder: False? But you don't even know what I believe!
"An honest encounter at the door!" (http://www.ovrlnd.com/Humor/knockknock.html)JWs who are interested in sharing sharing their religion with you aren't in the least bit interested in listening to you share your religion with them.
Try it sometimes, they will leave quick, fast and in a hurry.

Around here they hang around!
You'll like this one.
Some Mormons came and I challenged them. They just refused to stop preaching.
I told them to hold it. If you cannot answer my questions we are done, right now.
The one smiled as the other one said they were not there to answer my questions but to tell me all about being a Mormon.
I repeated they were a cult and asked them why I should believe what they are saying when I have given them reason not to and challenged them on key points?
They got mad and said they were not there to listen to me or answer my questions. They were there to tell me all about the LDS.
I said stop right there. You come to my door, preaching and trying to convert me to LDS and then tell me you have no obligation to answer my questions or listen to me?
Yep. Thats right.
I said, well then, good bye. Don't come back until you are willing to answer me. They never came back.
They got mad and said they were not there to listen to me or answer my questions. They were there to tell me all about the LDS.
CI:
I don't have much occasion to witness to Mormons, but I have seen that they really have problems trying to integrate their theology of the Native Americans being Jews with modern DNA technology. It proves that the native Americans came from Asia.
. . . and archaeology just doesn't support their claims of elaborate native cultures in S. America.
The facts just can't be made to fit their agenda and prejudices.

They use 2 arguments on the DNA:
1. God changed them.
2. DNA altered/changed over time as did the Jews in the Mid East. So no suprise they are not the same anymore.
Both are foolish arguments.
On archaelogy, they just try to now run away from old claims and in the new ones say the similarity to Egyptian with the old Jewish time in Egypt proves it.
They also try to fake claims of horses and such animals by claiming know frauds are legit proof.
Completely different ball of wax between JW and LDS. And yet, almost identical mind sets and basic techniques. Demonstrates a common author.

Finally had the JW's show up at our place on Saturday past. Two young women, which struck me a bit odd at first. Now, if you know anything about Bahamian people, you will notice they are generally painfully shy. I found the women to be totally non-confrontational...being quite glad to leave some literature and run. I read through both the Awake and Watchtower magazine and started me wondering about something. My question is this...has there been a shift in doctrine toward the person and mission of Jesus Christ? I found many references to "Son of God", and references to Him as the saviour. This is contrary to what I've always believed that JW taught. Didn't they at one time claim that Jesus was an angel or something? At any rate, it got me thinking...are they tweaking doctrine a bit to fit more into the mainstream? Wondering in Bahamas
all the best...

Its all a front.
They have changed their literature so they dont get called out on it any more. Just like the Mormons. They dont want to be called Mormons any more, they want to be LDS now.
When they actually get you in the church and in membership the real doctrines come out. Prime examples of cults the both of them.

kay-gee,
To add to what CTZ said, JW believe that Jesus was Michael the Archangel. He came to earth, transformed into Jesus (through the birth, of course), but when he died, they say he was not resurrected, but his body was disintegrated, and he became Michael the Archangel again.
That pretty much destroys the resurrection, which the Word of God teaches that you HAVE to believe in order to be saved.
I have family members who are JW. Sad...too sad.

LOL Wind! I wish I could do that!
I had two JW visit me one time, and I witnessed to them for a couple of hours. They didn't come back after that.

Just had two show up yesterday.
I said I was not a JW. They said okay, they just wanted to share and encourage Bible study.
I said I teach Bible. Well, the attitudes instantly changed and they dropped two magazines and took off.
In the Watchtower they subtly declare Christ is not God and God chose and sent him, not became him. They also metioned the 144,000 that co-rule in Heaven.
In the 'Awake" magazine there is an article on if there is one true religion. Two interesting points that get at their deception.
John 4 (Awake)
24God is a spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
John 4
23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
See the difference? They add the word 'a,' which totally changes the meaning of the verse.
They do such things in many places in their New World Translation.
Then they close the article by offering to come to your home and teach you the Bible.
Isolate and indoctrinate.

I think they are the same issues they left here too. Is there one true Religion...etc...
I wonder about something else too. Why do they keep insisting that Christ died on a pole rather than a cross? I always thought that by nature of the word itself, that it is a cross...as in 2 pieces of wood crossed.
all the best...

http://www.christiananswers.net/q-abr/crosses-bw.gif Pictured are three types of crosses commonly used by the Roman army in the first century A.D. Each carried an inscription stating the victim's capital offense and a seat-like projection, not designed for the victim's comfort, but to prolong their agony. Nails and ropes held the victim's legs and arms in place.
The cross on the left was called a “high tau” cross because it was shaped like the capital Greek letter tau (“T”). The middle cross was known as a “low tau” cross, shaped like the lower case tau (“t”). In both cases the central post was generally set permanently in the ground while the cross bar was carried to the site by the victim. The cross on the right was an actual tree still in the ground (dead or alive) with its limbs serving as the cross bar. Jesus was probably crucified on a “low tau” type cross. “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (I Cor. 15:3-4).
Romans used crucifixion for the most serious crimes and mainly for non-Romans. Romans were beheaded frequently because it was believed they entered the Underworld headless then.
As for the word tree, that includes usages such as lumber.
JWs are linking this to paganism, which did use crosses in religion, and claiming linkage through Catholicism, was was and is an adoption and adaption of Pagan religion into Christianity.
It is an effort to show the greatest division possible thus enhancing them as Biblically pure and others as not Biblically pure.
