LOS ANGELES -- Father Michael Manning, whose popular program “The Word in the World” airs every Wednesday morning (8:30 a.m. PST) on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), was honored May 19th by his peers and by Pope Benedict XVI for his many years of compassionate Christian witness.

In a prayer ceremony at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino, California, Manning was presented with the Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice Cross, a medal which translates, “For the Church and the Holy Father.”

Manning launched his nationally syndicated weekly program in 1978 with the goal of presenting Catholic Christian perspectives on important social and religious issues, mending bridges between denominations and religions, and championing the plight of the poor and disenfranchised. The program offers fresh insights from the Bible and features interviews with both celebrities and little known people whose faith and life offer strong inspiration.

Asked how he has kept his television program relevant and fresh for viewers over the past three decades, Manning answered, “You’ve got to keep listening to what’s going on in people’s lives…. I listen to how people are hurting and how Christ can be an answer to the problems.”

Paul Crouch Jr., Vice President of Administration for TBN, noted that Father Manning’s broadcast ministry crosses all denominational and cultural lines, making it a perfect fit for TBN. “His relevant and heartfelt teachings have clearly illustrated that ‘Christ crucified and then resurrected is the center of what all Christians believe ... the rest is just window dressing.’ On behalf of everyone at TBN, I congratulate Father Manning on receiving this prestigious and much deserved award from Pope Benedict XVI.”

Well? Is the part above that I have bolded true? Are the differences between Biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism just window dressing?

Is a trans-sexual still a male in all the senses of the word? Is his skirt, mini or otherwise, just window dressing? Along with the eyelashes, padded chest and so on?

Or, is he a fraud playing at being something he is not?

CI, i must disagree with your wording there. Please don't get upset,
because I am not.

I have told you before in private chat, and I have no problem saying it
out in the open, you are one of the most sensible, knowledgable, practical,
no-nonsense, loving Christians I have ever had the privelege of knowing.
My returning here to this awesome Site was inevitable, Bro!

Having said that, I must take issue with your choice of words there. Not so much
because you're totally wrong, but because the catholic church does not solely
consist of fakes, wannabes and heretics.

If you mean the RCC itself, then I will wholly extend my concurrance, CI. In fact,
I even believe that they will be a catalyst in the eventual Apostate Religion
[False Prophet] Mentioned in the Book of Revelation, and a spokesman said
a couple years back that --although the RCC accepts the idea of an ecumenical
system, as opposed to so many denomenations in strife and opposition-- the so-
called "holy see" must be the head of it.

Love ya, CI! If you disagree with my personal opinion, then fine. Let us agree to
disagree. However, there are so many catholics in this world who love and adore
The One Whom they believe with all their hearts to be the only Begotten Son of GOD
Almighty In Heaven. And the rest of their beliefs/rituals, et al?? They were raised
both by their parents and their priests to believe it all, sorry to say.

Thanks. GOD Bless, dear Brother. Now, get over here!

Nothing to get upset over. We are brothers in Christ and will remain so.

Where we probably are at odds is on the definition of a Catholic.

The last Pope stated MANY in the US who call themselves are not Catholic.

By RCC definition a Catholic must uphold the Pope and his non-Biblical office, do the sacraments, go to confessions and so on.

This TBN personage is either a Catholic or a Catholic pretender.

I was only referring to the article on him. Not all who claim to be Catholic.

I have said before there are probably some Christians, although very few, with Mormonism. They found Christ is spite of their church teachings.

How can one claim to be a Biblical oriented Christian, as he does, and then take vows to the Pope and add their errors to it?

Maybe that will clarify it a bit. :D
