I don't get it.
Why would one leave Mexico, a chaotic and disasterous country, to get a better life in the US and then want to take back the Southwestern States into Mexico, and may even the rest of the US?
But there are a lot of Hispanic organizations and so on actually espousing and working toward that goal. Along with a good number of legal citizens who have done very well here.
This is lunacy to me!

agreed. I think its more of a power and control thing to take them back.
and they dont stop and think, that what they left behind they bring with them.
most are just concerned about today and money.

Exactly. Money.
They wanted it, got it and now want to be in a place where the money is worth more??
Who knows.

We once were a nation that prided itself in being a melting pot for diverse groups to become un-hyphenated Americans.
Now, we have become a country of minority groups who have no desire to assimulate into American culture. . .
. . . each claiming that they are poor, downtrodden victims.
We are so toast.

Yep.
I don't know why the Mexico situation doesn't get much media attention. . .
. . . guess that the Iraq war sucks up all the oxygen.
BUT Mexico is staring at the precipice of full-blown civil war:
It will soon be required to have a VISA [travel documents, not the CC] to enter Mexico. . . that should dry up the border town markets. . . .
The maquiladora [twin plants] experiment worked for a while until companies realized that they could board them up and move them to Indonesia or China for even lower wage bases. . . .
The drug cartels have compromised and corrupted the government and police to the extent that they are the real government of Mexico. . . .
The tourist industry is sucking wind, going to Cancun or Alcapulco isn't the draw it was 30 years ago.
The political turmoil of a contested presidental election just keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
Worst yet, we have almost 2000 miles of porous border with Mexico.
Things could get really stupid, really fast.

Yep we are toast.
Imagine the backlash if we had to used force against Mexico to protect our own interests?
Both the liberals and the Mexican-Americans / immigrants / illegals would scream bloody murder and riot within our own borders.
This is a major reason the border remains open. God forbid we start enforcing the rules.
