Many people do not understand the distinctions of these issues.
Here is a basic range of thinking in this area:
Recognize the KJV as a Bible version but read other versions.
Prefer the KJV but will also read other versions.
Will only read the KJV but recognize the other versions as Bibles as well.
Will only read the KJV and are troubled about other version.
Will only read the KJV and hold Christians using other versions as inferior in knowledge.
Will only read the KJV and hold it as the perfect Bible. All other versions are not to even be considered.
Hold the KJV as the perfect Bible and all using other versions are not even Christian. Cannot be born-again due to the paganism and total falseness of other versions. The majority of Christians fall into group one.
The next two only have issues in some doctrinal discussion where the archaic English and some translation errors get in the way. Many, in fact, in this group use Interlinears and such and overcome a lot of archaic English issues. Note here that does not mean other transations get it right or best on every point in the Bible.
Fourth point begins introducing more issues that get into doctrinal discussions. There is no or little recognition of archaic and translation problems.
On number 5 the problems escalate. It becomes a real struggle to get them to even listen since they begin with the idea they are superior in spiritual knowledge.
Six, the issues really kick up. They struggle to even accept other Christians as Christians.
And the last has earned the label of cult. Which is deserved. They turn their backs on other Christans, calling them unsaved, pagan, heretics and worse.
This lack of understanding of the spectrum of thinking causes way too many issues. People get incorrectly categorized and the issues immediately bring up defensive barriers due to past experiences in these areas. The mention of any problems with the KJV triggers emotions in many.
Hope this helps paint a better picture of what is going on in this area.
