I heard some commentary on it today on the news.
All admitted it was Gnostic. But one pushing it said gave a much broader picture of what early Christians believed and thought.
Obviously, he considered Gnostics Christian, then and now.
Big implications to me on this one. National Geographic doing a special and others doing blurbs about how this changes and redefines the relation of Judas and Jesus.
Reinventing history to and trying to change doctrine to a much more AC friendly form.
My thoughts on this.

agreed. changing history. I doubt that thing is even real to begin with,
anyone notice how the "bad ones" in the bible are being vindicated?
and Jesus is villified now?

It`s in the same league as the Gospel of Thomas and the other Gnostic `gospels`. It won`t make a blind bit of difference to Bible believing Christians. Those who are after an excuse not to believe or who are anti-Christian will jump on it, but it won`t harm our faith.
No serious Christian or Biblical scholar takes the Gnostics seriously or sees them as Christian.
The document itself is from around 270-400 AD, so well after the Gospels were written (between 30 - 80 AD), and this particular one was discredited as early as 180 AD by the early church fathers.
Along with the Da Vinci Code, it`s just another feeble attempt by Satan to discredit Our Lord.

A lot of such effort out there anymore. And getting worse.

National Geographic and the History Channel seem very persistant on discrediting GOD and the Bible. Gets to be more and more each day.

Thusfar, nobody in the mainstream media has answered this question: Why should I classify the "Gospel of Judas" as historically reliable?
Instead, all I have seen is secular humanist commentary, which relies on hyper-intellectual hype.

Well, to me, it was pretty much a too long program.
Main effort seemed to be paint a picture of a confused early Chrisitiantity where some Gospels were accepted by more Christians than others. Those not accepted got whacked and declared heretical.
They tried to not make it obvious. But that is what I saw.:not:

Right. The gospel of Judas is believable why?
I'm begging someone (in the secular world) to tell me exactly why this should be taken with a grain of salt. Many people write books, it doesn't mean they are reliable. Of course, with all of the attempts to discredit Jesus lately, this comes as no shock to me. I know all of you have noticed it too. The Da Vinci Code. The Gospel of Judas. Jesus surviving the crucifixion. The attempts to discredit Jesus have amplified exponentially lately, and guess what? People are buying it. He's been discredited enough to the secular world that He'll just be another "god." Not reliable...not believable. A myth.
But, what no one has stopped to notice is this.... for so long many have said that Jesus NEVER existed. Well, they find a new "gospel" that focuses on Jesus, and what happens? They spend time talking about someone they never believed existed in the first place. Very telling, isn't it?
All of this is as Core said.... priming the world for the AC. As Neachley said above, all of this won't make a bit of difference to Bible believing Christians... but it will in the secular world.
The pot is slowly starting to boil.

which is why I dont watch the history channel much anymore.
it also makes me wonder how much of the other stuff they put on has any truth in it either.
