Pentagon plans cyber-insect army

The Pentagon's defence scientists want to create an army of cyber-insects that can be remotely controlled to check out explosives and send transmissions.

The idea is to insert micro-systems at the pupa stage, when the insects can integrate them into their body, so they can be remotely controlled later.

Seen some TV on this kind of thing. Not SciFi.

To me that seems like a crazy idea. And very scarey. They need to stop the madness!

They already have robotic insect versions for seeking out and destroying mines along beaches and such.

And in advanced development are flying robot insects.

The robotic idea isn't bad within itself. But applications can be abused.

As for tampering with living things like this, I don't like it.:tsk:
