Let's step back here a bit.
I am an adult person, and aware that there is an afterlife.
I am born into a Mormon family, raised an LDS'er.
Go to college, obviously have some smarts.
Surely I must start thinking some here.
I investigate the Bible, find out that, not only are there thousands upon thousands of archaelogical 'clues' to prove it is the Word of God, but all the places mentioned therein are all there to be visited to this day.
Read various SECULAR texts which point to the Bible being the Word of God.
Then I turn to the BOM. After much challenging investigation, find out that not only is it all a lie, that the discovery of DNA testing has disproven much of what I was taught, that the places it mentions are all fantasy, but that the 'founder' of my religion is a proven liar, thief, fraudster, in fact, a criminal, who was into the occult in a huge way (as was common among the supersitious rural folk in those days. Anyone remember the witch trials in the olden days?).
I believe in an afterlife. Yet I am entrusting THEM to show me the way?
Why would the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE, send His Son to die on a Cross, be resurrected again, only to abandon mankind?
The Word of God, which is irrefutably the Word of God, states that if you confess with your mouth that Christ is Lord, you WILL be saved.
It also states that God chased Adam and Eve out of the Garden, for falling for the VERY thing that I believe in, namely, that I will be a god.
You are trusting in an INSTITUTION WITHOUT investigation?
Do you put your money into a business venture without doing due diligence?
Where are the Mormons' 'due diligence' with regards to who they are entrusting their afterlife to?
