Quote:Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man,
When Adam sinned it tainted his flesh. That passed his sin nature onto all his descendents since flesh produces flesh after its own nature.
Quote:and death through sin,
Death means the flesh will age and die physically and the spirit is separated from God.
Quote:and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--
So all Man sins because their natures are sinful so they will commit sin.
Quote:13for before the law was given, sin was in the world.
Law existed before the world was even created. So Adam and Eve sinned before the ate of the fruit.
Quote:But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
No one is accountable for sin unless they have access to knowing what sin is and understand it is sin. God is just and will condemn no one for doing what they do not understand is wrong to do.
Adam before the fruit, babies and some others did not or do not understand what sin is so they are innocent. They have no responsibility to pay for their sins.
Quote:14Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.
Adam broke the first Law. That being do not eat the fruit.
From Adam to Moses no one had the Mosaic Law so were not responsible for breaking a commandment of the Mosaic Law.
But still they died because they had the Law of Conscience. That being their limits to the knowledge of what sin was.
Quote:15But the gift is not like the trespass.
Adam's sin brought sin to all Man. None have had a choice on whether they wanted this reality or not. They inherited it like it or not.
But the gift of Christ's blood is different in that one must choose to want it. They are free to remain in their sin natures.
Quote:For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
When Adam sinned it indeed was passed on to all of us. But he alone suffered for his own sins. He had no thought of us in mind when he sinned.
Christ's death was not upon him alone. He took the deaths of every saint who has or will ever lived upon himself and suffered them for all of us. He did not need to die but died for us with the thoughts of us in his mind and not himself.
Quote:16Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.
Adam sinned to serve himself. Christ died not for himself but to save every saint will be.
Quote:17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
The how and why of Christ's death is so much more powerful and righteous that the blessings of accepting his grace through faith far out weighs the penalties of not accepting. Life is so much more rewarding and precious than the motives of those who elect death.
Quote:18Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
Obedience to God versus disobedience is the bottom line. Along with the realities of eternity each contain.
Quote:20The law was added so that the trespass might increase.
The Mosaic Law increased sin knowledge. That increased responsibility and eternal consequences.
Quote:But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
When sin increases God gifts to cover increased sin also increases. Not only in sins covered but rewards given due to increased opportunity to serve God.
Quote:21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God wants to give all he can. So to increase his giving justice demands the consequences of sin must increase. There must be more we can work against in the service of God for God to give us more in rewards.
