Quote:Future Glory
18I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
While we are painfully aware of our current realities and sufferings in whatever form they take they are nothing compared to what reality will be for us in eternity. A lifetime compared to forever is less than a drop in the bucket.
Quote:19The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.
The true glory of the future is not yet revealed. Not all the saints yet exist. No saint resides in glorified flesh. No eternal purpose or reward is yet given.
Quote:20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that[9] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
God has a Plan that is not yet fulfilled. Until it is fulfilled creation itself is frustrated because it must wait for sin, decay and disappointment to be overcome and defeated.
But they will not be defeated until their purposes are complete. Then God's Plan will be complete and its glory made real in all of creation.
Quote:22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
The future glory is like a child in the womb. It is hidden until the proper time to be born when its formation is complete and its glory is ready to be shown.
Quote:23Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
We in this birth process are not complete and will not be complete until our glorification. But we desire this completion greatly and are frustrated in the waiting.
Quote:24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
Hope means trusting in what we have not yet seen and do not yet possess. It means there is far more yet to come than if there was nothing to hope for and we had all we were to get here and now.
Quote:26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
In the hope and incomplete formation we are as weak as babies in the womb. But as hope holds promise for the future the Holy Spirit gives us strength and endurance now to continue on until the hope is fulfilled.
Quote:We do not know what we ought to pray for,
As babies in the womb we know nothing of the realities outside the womb. So we do not even really know what to ask for in prayer.
Quote:but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
But the Holy Spirit knows, acts and speaks in our behalf in ways that we cannot understand or put into words.
Quote:27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
Because the Holy Spirit knows our hearts and minds better than we do and the Father knows the mind of the Holy Spirit he knows what we truly want and need better than we do.
God answers our prayers for what we want, need and so on by this knowledge and in accordance to his will. Which means the answer may not seem to be an answer but it is the right and proper answer for our well being.
